Thanks. Despite thinking I’m immune to clickbait titles, my heartbeat increased slightly.

Yes and yes, but I have no need for it.
I prefer to use Signal’s Android version by way of SailfishOS’ App support.

FWIW I’ve been daily driving SailfishOS on various Sony Xperias for 5 years now. It’s not fully OSS, but it is a fully valid Linux OS.

Absolutely, and on topic for this post.
However, I found it a hard, dark read (as is the topic of the book), and she wrote a lot of high quality but easier to read stuff in both sci-fi and fantasy. But it’s so long I read her I don’t even remember the titles except for the Earthsea trilogy.
BTW, IT people might recognize the term Ansible which she invented.
Try netcup instead.

Debian is missing!

[ tl;dr: yt-dlp has been working nicely on this setup. For many years. ]
Every alternative youtube frontend that doesn’t use its API is always about to break because that’s the game youtube has been playing for years.
However, if it has enough users and contributors, it always gets fixed promptly. yt-dlp has enough users and contributors.
Someone posted a screen shot of youtube.com with a recaptcha on the screen.
Not even sure what you’re refering to; the whole point of yt-dlp is that you don’t use the web ui.

Robots will cull the
poorpeople

It also has ties to the government where a lot of money is still coming from. Money that should probably go to NASA instead.
I also believe that there are ways to inflate apparent wealth (or rather, value of stock), which Musk is a master of. It will pop eventually and boy will it be nice to see him fall. Not that he’ll ever be really poor, but still.

Put him on a stage where he can praise “his” achievements, Me-lon will say all sorts of stupid shit, for hours on end.

My favorite: “With natural ingredients!”

One negation too many! Edited, hope it makes more sense now.

This is a good tip, but what will stop working or start acting up and is this guaranteed to survive reboots, upgrades?

Is that a quote from the article? I feel compelled to add that, wrt mobile devices, it is possible to live without Google Play Services.

Is Google Play Services sampling your location so that it can send it in to Google HQ as part of a secret location tracking operation that runs without user consent or knowledge, or so that it can detect if the device has been stolen by the cops and use its proprietary ML model to activate anti-theft mode to protect the user’s privacy?
They’re the same picture.
If we can actually show mismanagement of user data by Google Play Services, we need to shout it to the hills
We can, and many have been for many years.

So, to put it blundly, not only should the server be outside of the USA but also the company who runs it? Makes sense to me.

I’m just glad people are waking up to how fiercely controlling Google is even in its “free” and “open” source endeavors.
What a stupid headline. Negative clickbait (it makes me want to not click).
