I use Mullvad + Tor myself from time to time. So I read through the article to understand what issues might come up. Turns out it’s actually advantageous in most cases with a few exceptions. If you use Mullvad (0 logs) and pay through monero/cash/vouchers (no money trail) you’re (slightly) better off.

What I learned from this thread is that you’re either in a region that allows debit as payment method, or your debit card has a credit card number. Sadly neither of those apply to me.

I’m not sure, since I’ve never owned a credit card. Debit cards pull directly from your account and you have very limited credit available. Also you don’t have card numbers etc. you could use online.

Like others have said, I only have debit cards, as does the large majority in my country. Credit cards are only ever useful while traveling. And I’m not going to gift my private info to data brokers like paypal just because I want video games. Meaning I’m literally looking at the end of an era, because I don’t know of any other way to purchase games on steam anymore.

Putting aside that the whole protect the children act is just a premise to kill anonymous browsing, a lot of people are in a situation were they need to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. The data is non critical and doesn’t contain indentifying info so I use ocr.space API. You could probably find ways to use the tesseract libraries locally.

A governmental-ish site I’m required to use doesn’t push notifications as mails, so you have to login daily to check for updates. Updates may happen multiple times daily or once a month. I automated my server to access the site once a day with my credentials, screenshot the notifications, parse them with ocr, and send myself a mail.
