It is. My solution was to go to an OS that has both security updates and isn’t AI infested. Neither Win 10 nor Win 11 meet those criteria.

Depends on the program. But, for 90% of them it is just: “wine programname.exe” in terminal and it just works. If it is an installer, it will be in your start menu like normal and you can just open in from there after. For the other 10%, I lookup the error online and it will need you to add a component via winetricks.

There is a contingent that just won’t work. For those, it’s easier to just find an alternative.

As a rule, I use a Linux native program first. Then fall back on a Windows program if I can’t find what I want. Many programs build for both now. Things like OBS, LibreOffice, Firefox, Chrome, Discord, Dropbox, Steam are the same in Windows and Linux, just install and use it as they are built for both OSes.

Make a Win 10 USB boot drive, boot into it, choose to format the drive, install 10.

That said, don’t hook this computer up to the internet, Windows 10 isn’t getting security updates.

Which program do you want? The general solution is to install the program via WINE. Another solution is to run the entirety of windows in an emulator like QEMU.

Arc Raiders has Platinum status on Linux, meaning it works extremely well under Linux. What problem are you having with it?

Install and run jstest-gtk (It’s in the software manager). In the GUI, select your gamepad and you will see a list of buttons/axies that light up when they are used. If it is showing up in there, it means the OS sees it and debugging should be focused on the specific program that you are trying to map keys with. In that situation, you can use something like AntiMicroX to rebind the keys to something your program does recognize.

If the button is not showing up in the jstest-gtk GUI, then the OS isn’t seeing the keys and you may need a driver for that gamepad. (If that is the case, one thing to try is to update Mint’s Kernel to 6.14, which can be done in Update Manager > View > Linux Kernels)

China is peaking. Them, South Korea, and Japan are the worlds case study on how to deal with these problems. All three are going to fuck up in 100 ways that everyone else will be able to learn from. Immigration is one of the man ways to deal with it, something that China is much worse off with as their poor wages and sheer size means they uniquely cannot attract enough people, unlike South Korea and Japan.
