Maybe I’ll buy the next gen shield but buying the 2019 version in 2025 is a bit dated and too expemsive tbo
Nothing in Flatpak stipulates that it only supports GUI applications.
In fact the tutorial offers to create a CLI application:

illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How to use a domain I own to self-host services?English1·12 days agoI wish I would understand how to use xcaddy but I failed the last two times setting it up 😅 it was something about another language (go?) that was needed iirc
illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How to use a domain I own to self-host services?English25·12 days agoCaddy with caddyfile is very easy although it lacks a gui. Use nginx proxy manager if you want a gui, but it is more work than a caddyfile.
Time for a scrolling window manager

illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•GitHub - voidauth/voidauth: An Easy to Use and Self-Host Single Sign-On Provider 🐈⬛🔒English12·13 days agoHow does it lock you in? You, the admin, has full control over postgres. Sqlite has no security features. Does it store passwords? Sqlite also locks the database which is usually OK if there are no concurrent jobs. But for such services it sounds like a bad idea to use sqlite. (I am no server/app dev)
illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Laboratory note book for my new research groupEnglish2·14 days agoOk, sounds not so good. What about only using the converson for the snippets?
illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Laboratory note book for my new research groupEnglish2·14 days agoOh shit. I’d try pandoc md to docx conversion. No idea if it works for your case
illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Laboratory note book for my new research groupEnglish1·14 days agoI feel you. Using word is like going backwards.
Especially technical docs should never be in word. Converting markdown to html is so easy but I get where you are.
illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Laboratory note book for my new research groupEnglish1·14 days agoMarkdown is just a universal language. Using WYSIWYG editors it’s even better than using common word processors. Evreything is consistent, easy and beautiful.

illusionist@lemmy.zipto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Laboratory note book for my new research groupEnglish10·14 days agoIt depends on what you guys do.
Markdown is very easy to use. It can be learned within a couple of minutes.
Do you calculate stuff? -> quarto
Modern, comprehensible latex? --> typst
Do you want trackable research? --> git
A git server (forgejo, radicle) can also be used to track issues. Or you may want to try openproject.org
Why is latex not easy to collaborate? Because others don’t know it?
Yes!
Sry for the typo. Mesh vpn.
I use bookmarks which is very convenient. In the past, I also used public domains that simply point to the local IP. E.g. sub.test.com points to 192.1.1.1:8080 instead of a global ip.
