I saw today the infamous pop-up of YouTube again that they will block the video player after 2 more videos if I keep using uBlock Origin. ** Google.

I got that too like two weeks ago. Updated the “quick fixes” filter list and haven’t seen it since.

Remove your custom rules for youtube. Make sure you don’t have other adblockers such as the one build into the youtube enhancer add-on and if you’re using Firefox, as you should, disable the enhanced tracking protection for youtube (in the address bar) Other than that just make sure you keep uBlock Origin up to date since they update the adblocking detection script atleast twice a day. Just click the clock icon in the “quick fixes” section and click update. No need to update all your filters every time.

@vintprox@kbin.melroy.org You’re 100% right. We need to move away from it. Eventually maybe PeerTube? Sure, Grayjay is a good combination of all! But I hope content creators also move away from youtube.

Is this a global thing? I never saw that popup and was thinking maybe they are directing this only at the US and Europe. I am in north Africa and YouTube premium isn’t even available (not that I’d pay for that overpriced bullshit).

On iOS, I’ve discovered that I can uninstall the YT app, set Firefox Focus as my default browser, and then use PocketTube linked to my YT account to open a group playlist, and it plays in FF Focus without ads… so far.
