I’m using lunar client and its pretty decent but im kinda worried about data collection. It’s probably not horrible but still, i want to be pretty sure that it doesn’t collect any data, or atleast not a lot. I want something like lunar just more private and maybe foss as well? Also it needs to work on linux
thank guy
As others have pointed out, Prism Launcher is the way. Keep in mind that Microsoft will still harvest all the metadata they can from your account if you’re using a genuine license.
I saw some videos on youtube recently that basically said lunar client steals all your data, so you should switch to prism or smth and just download the pvp mods with the prism clients mod management
Prism Launcher is open source and Linux compatible, just make sure any mods you get through it don’t collect any data.
I second prism launcher, it’s foss has lots of functionalities and works perfectly on Linux
I am happy I found this a few month ago too and Prism Launcher is simply good. And installed as flatpak gives you some sandboxing too.
Is it a hard requirement that it is exactly minecraft? Have you tried Luanti?
This.
Please consider supporting anyone but Microsoft. Theres Luanti, but I would also highly recommend Vintage Story, its made by ex Minecraft modders who decided to build a better engine.
Does lunati have a launcher of similar quality to prism? (modding wise)
+1 for Vintage Story, it’s Minecraft for adults!
Can you recommend any game or mod combination on Luanti? I have played a bit in some games, but always lost interest after half an hour.
Yeah, it looks interesting, but I couldn’t find any good info on a solid base pack of mods, and I don’t really want to spend a bunch of time trying to figure out how to make it good.
If prism launcher has any analytics it would be easy to disable, and it’s super well featured.
OK so not exactly what OP asked, but if you might like a 2D minecraft-like, check out Terraria. Fun, and plays fine with no network access. So zero potential for data collection. Has native linux version.
Terraria isn’t really much like Minecraft, just because it has blocks. Luanti/VoxelLibre is closest, but sometimes you need actual Minecraft to play with friends who have Minecraft, or if you want specific features in the game
