Basically are there any decent de-googled phone OS that is good/decent for a folding phone?

I guess your best bet is to heavily debloat your original OS using adb or UniversalAndroidDebloaterNextGen for exemple and switch all apps from Google/Samsung/Partners to FOSS solution. Also tweak all the settings you can, ditch the PlayStore, Google account, etc…

I think that’s the best you can do. Maybe in a few years you will have better option but I am not sure of that as it is a Samsung and it has become harder and harder in a few generations.

Here are some ressources. DYOR and use at your own risk :

My last three phones have been Samsung and I have used adb to remove Samsung bloatware on them, which could be a good start

I’ve heard running a different OS on Samsung phones can be problematic since it triggers Samsung Knox

Damn i guess what I’ll do for now is de-google the most i can with the apps/services I use and then going for a non-folding pixel for my next phone

Why a non-folding Pixel? Did you end up not liking having a foldable?

I am not criticizing the decision, just curious. I have never even used a foldable.

Don’t get me wrong I love my folding phone.

I haven’t done any research, but the OS (One UI from Samsung, in this case) has a lot of tweaks to make sure everything works seamlessly and smoothly with the larger screen.

I’m just assuming that the de-googled OSes probably don’t play nice with the larger screen, especially while opening and closing the phone.

Even knowing that, I do understand their apprehension. GrapheneOS doesn’t really add any QOL features that are not found in AOSP; just security/privacy features. So if that commenter’s last foldable was only usable to them due to Samsung’s QOL features, I presume they wouldn’t find GrapheneOS on a foldable any more usable than AOSP on a foldable.

LineageOS seems good so far on my Pixel 9 Foldable, though I can’t speak for the changes Samsung may have
