Ok, so what I would really like to do is sync the podcasts I have on my PC to my Android phone, BUT I'd also like to sync what episode and how far I am into the episode I am. Is this even possible?

So this can support syncing the files that Rhythmbox downloads to my android device? Or does it work another way?

Sorry, this is my first time mucking about with podcast stuff outside listening on youtube/spotify.

I wouldn't think it would be worth the effort in syncing the downloaded files - a podcast is literally just a list of download URLs with some metadata, probably simpler to just re-download the file. I guess I could see that being a problem if you are on a very restrictive internet plan, but podcast files episodes are typically quite small

Well the reason I ask that, probably annoyingly, is because I listen to them on Rhythmbox when I'm at home. So I was hoping there would be an easy way to just sync it all up to my phone, but I'm guessing there's not really a way after looking through the suggestions here and searching google for solutions. I'll give the suggestions made here a go and if I can't get it to work properly, I can always just move the files over and remember what episode I am on. (This podcast is 200+ episodes and 20GBs in size.)

AudioBookShelf is a beautiful podcast option. OP would have to fully migrate into it but once done it'll let you listen to an episode on pc, pause, then resume from the same spot on mobile. It'll auto grab episode as they come out and store them on your system for streaming or local access. The android app is pretty good and i know webapp works well on ios

Another vote for Audiobookshelf. I’ve never looked back once setting it up. It does everything I want from a podcast fetcher, is cross platform, stable as a rock - give it a go OP you won’t regret it.
