Making the fediverse accessible to all with Quiblr!
After speaking with non-technical friends, I began to think how the key to marketing, onboarding, and growth will be to reduce the friction of the fediverse. The technical aspects of the fediverse (such as instances) and even the word “fediverse” itself should be behind a curtain.
Unfortunately, Lemmy’s current default frontend does not do a good job at welcoming non-technical users (i.e. needing to find and select instances, fediverse jargon, etc.). Not to mention the lack of common accessibility features
Ultimately, I think the 3rd party devs building accessible and frictionless frontends will be key in this respect.
With that being said, I think a better marketing strategy is to say “join this app” (which connects them to the Lemmy/Mastodon network) because I imagine the bounce rate of the default Lemmy onboarding is not great.
Just the site right now. I may put it in a docker in the future so different instances can host it too! I’ll let you know!
You’re too kind! Your support gives me energy to keep working on Quiblr lol
Thank you! It’s been my passion side-project!
Quiblr web app updated 😇
The next season of Squid Games looks exciting!
Quiblr is a web app I built! Feel free to check it out
I would imagine that if bots accounted for so much traffic, we would see more steep vertical growth in numbers
This is already possible in many Lemmy apps. I built the Quiblr web app and messages are more similar to a messaging app. Many Lemmy apps probably do similar as it’s just a front-end change.
The Quiblr PWA should have it in about a day or so! Testing is wrapping up
Edit: Should be live now!
Im working on saving posts right now. Currently in the final stages. Should be released soon
Quiblr works essentially the same way. But I query the instance list so users cannot input a bad instance name
This community in particular or do you feel this toward all of Lemmy?
Thanks! I tried to bring a modern interface to Lemmy. The current way messages are shown kinda drives me nuts lol Let me know if you have any feedback
Thanks! It’s my passion project that I’ve been working on in my free time. Give Quiblr a go and let me know what you think
I also just added a refresh button on the top bar of Quiblr for pwa users which should make things smoother :)
Fixed the text overflow issue with large text on the Quiblr web app. Hope you enjoy!
I added a Font Size feature in the settings. It may be a bit buggy because I built it pretty quickly, so let me know if anything looks funky!
Edit: I noticed that the poster’s username sometimes runs over 🤦 I will need to fix it in a future build
I like that idea! Adjustable font size would be a great feature for user accessibility. I’ll take a look today!
Thanks! I took inspiration from a few different design styles to make something a bit more fun and novel. And It is closed right now. I work on Quiblr in as a side project and I’ve never managed an open source project lol but I’m talking with a friend who does have experience managing open source projects to see if they can assist
