I personally only pirate indie games to make sure only triple A titles are profitable.

Dude ms defender used to delete my "Hello World" executables built using visual studio just because they were made by an unknown publisher.
Solid point, although we dont know for sure if they offered a free month back when he started.
They offer 1 month free to show their appreciation? Dont they offer 1 month free to literally everyone? You just open youtube and you are bombarded by “try youtubr premium free 1 month”.
Such bullshit “appreciation”. This is insulting.
Not my first libre product, but definitely the one that got me into searching for libre alternatives - OpenOffice. Despite not being great at the time (or ever), i was amazed by how complicated microsoft turned 365Office into. I suddenly had to buy subscriptions to all of the office products for outrages prices just so that i can have a simple words editors? Screw that, i googled for “open source office software” and never came back to m$Office.
Dont worry, the market will simply regulate itself.
Im not sure what are its income resources, but never the less - mastadon is still quite a niche site. Not nearly as big as reddit or X.
Lemmy will die out without monotization such as every 6th post being an ad.
I love it but feel like libre projects that have constant maintenance costs beyond developers’ time need to find ways to become mostly self sustainable without relying on donations. I also dont mind less than 20% of the posts being ads.
Dont those companies that collect your data always keep stressing how much they dont directly sell your data so third parties cant actually know its you?
Opera is chromium based though.
You dont even need this DRM bullshit to become law. Chrome will simply put a warning before entering websites without it that goes “this website doesnt use name of a technology the user doesnt understand and therefore might be dangerous”. Thats it. Every and all websites will immediatly implement this DRM bullshit or die.
I love lifting weights/using machines at the gym but absolutely despise doing the exact same things at home alone (or at an empty gym for that matter).
There is something about being surrounded by others that also workout that really motivates me at the moment, gets me into the mood of working out and giving it my best.
Then, while lifting/using a machine, it becomes a game of how much i can manage today, how much have i progressed, how much i lift compared to some other random person. There is also thr good natural feeling you get while working out, and when i give it my all, i can really feel it.
I still heavily dislike cardio at the gym, such as using a treadmill. I try to turn it into a game though - manage to run exactly 1 kilometer in exactly 5 minutes etc. It somewhat helps for short runs.
The problem is that the ones that will benefit from AI taking over are the big companies that create such AIs - Google, Meta, Apple. They will grow exponentially by having AIs work for them 24/7. So its not like himanity as a whole will grow, it will just be these companies, and they will slowly become the rulers of humanity.
The irony.
I never used siduction, im juat aware of its existence. I think they add some stability(=reliability) on top of sid and also keep updating packages during sid’s freezes. Dont quote me on this.
My best middle ground is openSUSE tumbleweed. It is a rolling release but very reliable. Its not bleeding edge. It has snapshots which function like very small stable releases every few days insteqd of every package being updated individually. Every such snapshot has automatic testing. So all in all, very stable for a rolling release.
Siduction. It is rolling release though.
Exactly. With youtube's shitty tutorial search functions ever since they removed dislikes, i kinda need to see the start of the video to know if its even relevant. But no. Full on 2-3 pre-video ads.
