Creality’s quality control has plummeted over the last few years.

I may have made my point badly, they are great at managing their gaming properties by not managing them. They usually just buy the company and let the people that made the game studio great keep doing what they do.

As opposed to someone like EA which takes the studio down to a BDSM basement and violates them like they are in a snuff film

Ironically the one thing MS seems to be great at is managing game companies. Granted, that’s by usually just leaving them the hell alone, so yea, im hoping they fire all the higher ups at activision and hand it to one of their other game companies

Honestly, ( and I say this as the owner of 2 ender 3’s). Just upgrade the control board and the extruder, and maybe print out some stuff to make it look nice. You’ll spend more money upgrading it than it will cost to just buy a sovol 6 or 7 which is a much better machine with all the stuff you would end up adding to the ender anyways.

Between my two Enders, upgrading to direct drives with decent extruders, double z axis screws etc. I could have just bought a nicer machine. I also have an Ideaformer print mill and a bambu p1s and it’s well worth the money to jump to a better machine when you can

Lol, don’t feel bad, I have a couple of ender 3s in my mix of printers, and one stopped extruding. I cleaned, then replaced the hot end, then moved on to testing the motor by plugging one of the other motor cables into it. Replaced the motor thinking that was the problem. Nope.

So then the only thing that could be the problem is the control board right? Fine, ordered a replacement and it STILL doesn’t extrude.

……it was the damn cable that goes to the extruder.

Oh totally, but just think by the time you are done building a Voron you have a kick ass printer and you should pretty much understand everything

Lemme propose an alternative. Build a Voron. You’ll get just as good print with all the faetures , and when you are done you will UNDERSTAND 3D printing at a level neither of the the two options will provide.

Don’t get me wrong, prusa and bambu printers are incredible, but Vorons are every bit as good, fully open source and nothing is gonna make you understand the hobby as much as building one

They can, but really it’s not even worth it with those things, you can get cheap bag or titan extruder knockoffs on Ali- express that are a million times better. One of my Enders has a cheap titan direct drive kit and it’s actually awesome. I think I paid 35 bucks for it. And the knock off came with dual gear hardened steel gears. Triangle labs makes a killer bmg clone as well

The extenders on ender 3s are all sorts of trash, the bronze gear wears out pretty fast, tensioning issues, build quality.

How you have 100h on one is frankly a miracle. I have multiple ender3 s and I just immediately change out the extruder at this point.

Not really, first thing is going to happen is it’s going to start under extruding and the flow is interrupted (trust me I have multiple ender 3’s, I’ve lived this :D )

Eventually no amount of adjusting will fix it, but at the start you’ll just get some weird layer lines, under extrusion, retraction issues. It’ll just get worse and worse

I REALLY hate the ender extruders hehe. I do have to admit they did train me to troubleshoot extruder issues really well though

That’s not true, those gears (especially in the stock ender Bowden setups) are extremely trash. It doesn’t even take a lot of filament to get visible wear on the teeth to the point you get slippage.

Coupled with it being a single gear means wear on the teeth is even more prone to failure.

There’s a reason all of the higher quality extruders are double gear and hardened steel teeth vs. bronze. Just like nozzles wear out so do extruders
