I am of the mindset: i want value out of my money, subscriptions that let you own nothing immediately falls out of my requirements so i need it to be a price i’m willing to pay. Which is a low price.

I cancelled spotify the moment they added €1 to the cost, all it gave me was a play button and a bunch of bullshit i don’t care for like a year in review. Dude, i was there…listening to that music, i already know what i played so i don’t need you to tell me.

But that’s just me and i’m the odd one out it seems.

I compare spotify like this; i bought a cd from the discount bin for €5 and got to play that for a whole life and i’d be happy if it was all i had. Spotify opens up do much music to you which is really cool BUT i used to buy a single album a year and copy that to a new cd/mp3 player to add it to the previous boughr cd’s. So my cost went from €5/€20 a year to €11 a month while i own nothing. In my head that’s automatically a waste of €112 euro’s that are spent with no real returning value.

The biggest value most subscription services offer is: they’ll stop literally pestering you with ads.

So that’s why Instagram is the way it is, i assumed it was fairly small but it has attracted a rather toxic userbase and i don’t actually enjoy it anymore.

It used to be a place where i could share my joys and people with similar interests would follow me because they enjoy my joys too.

But now it’s just tiktok, at least i assume seeing it’s all reels and loud noises.

This reminds me of the blackberry ping days, everyone and their mom acting like a diva for having a sidekick blackberry just to use ping.

Those were better days financially.

But you have to invest within your budget broski.

If they use all that stuff to shoot the video, it means they already made it or they spent money they shouldn’t have.

I didn’t mind getting a handful of ads an hour, i do mind that i now get like 20 minutes to watch some youtube because adulting sucks and Youtube is like: swallow these 7 ads bitch, guess what bitch we forgot we showed you 7 have some more cunt and now my 20 minutes is fucked, so i say: time for Youtube to get bent.

If what i hear is right, they are and have been operating in the red for a long time. Half of their creators are better business people than they are.

Let them keep this shit up and you’ll find out.

I wonder what would happen if Google manages to destroy itself with increasing shenanigans like this.

I've tried torrents but those seemed to all be dead ends, i found another website that uses some backdoor from a streaming service and the file info is actually correct but you get songs 1 by 1. Which takes a lot of time.

I just want to point this out: Louis Rossman is trying to fix this in a way, by allowing people to subscribe to a person and not one of their platforms, so if they get banned their new platform of choice will show up to all of their subscribers instead of them having to try and move their audience to a new nearly unused platform.

I just started sailing again and all the torrents i want for my fav bands are stuck at 0. So i’ve started getting songs one by one from that website that takes them from deezer i found on here.

My memories go as far back to when a full commercial block was 60 seconds and only happened once in the middle of a movie and usually around once per hour on regular tv.

Imo paying a monthly fee and not getting something in return you can still use if you fall on bad times in such uncertain times as today makes zero sense. Rent more than doubled in the past 3 years and my wage actually went down, there is zero oppertunity to build a better life and now every silly business wants me to increase my monthly expenses by another 5/20 bucks per service per month, compared to an era where we just bought shit for cheap from the discount bin when we didn’t make a lot of money.

I’ll “ARRRR!” the whole way until they behave and life becomes affordable again.

I stopped working out because i can’t afford the food needed to properly benefit from a workout. Whey used to be a cheap way to get protëine and it went up 350% in the past 2 years. Eggs, chicken, peanuts, vegetables all doubled in price. I’m left eating a roll of cheap cookies just to get some food in me half the time.

There is no value in spending money anymore, you used to get some long term benefits. You bought movies, music and games for example and got to use them however long you want to. Now you pay significantly more under the guise of: “it’s only x amount per month” and own nothing.

For me, something like Spotify is far too expensive, considering i could buy an album from the discount bin for like €2 and play it for a full year until i got slightly bored (you still owned and got to use it after that). Spotify is €11 a month, times 12 compared to a single €2 permanent purchase. I usually only bought one or 2 albums per year.

I’m not saying you need to agree with this, but for me it makes absolutely no sense to pay this much especially when i look at my wage not going up and the cost of living having doubled over the past few years.
