I’m glad you are doing this. Pinephone and Librem 5 days are surely numbered, the hardware is just too outdated. My Librem 5 is also starting to fail, some times i can’t even get it to power on without restarting several times. I will never use Android or iOS, they are just too exploitative and untrustworthy, so it’s a relief everyone isn’t completely abandoning the idea of a free libre phone.

When i think of Android i don’t think of it as part of the gnu/linux ecosystem, but a heavily modified linux kernel turned against the user.

I’m running Pop on my living room pc and it’s fine, looking forward to Cosmic when it arrives. Also have Linux Mint cinnamon on my bedroom pc. Been thinking of going back to Arch, but i’m lazy so i’ll stick with what i have unless i get annoyed enough to switch.

I got YouTube premium, honestly i use YT quite a bit so a hundred bucks for a year isn’t that big a deal for me to get rid of annoying ads.

They funny thing about ubuntu touch, it’s harder to install it to a pinephone than it is to a google phone.

I have a Pinephone and a Librem 5 and they both have removable batteries. They might be anemic and featureless, but they are ahead of the pack on this. :)

I joined the metaverse via mastodon four years ago and lemmy 2 years. Guess that makes me a fucking hipster, lol. Though i’ll admit since the reddit fiasco i dumped reddit completely and made /kbin my home and been using the fediverse quite a lot more.

I have a librem 5, i use it to make/receive calls and it seems to work fine, though for anything else it is too anemic. Also eats through the battery like crazy, even shut down, it slowly drains.

It’s the advantage of advertising money and monopoly abuse. Nobody advertises linux, when’s the last time you saw a linux commercial? You don’t. You’ll never be inundated with linux or fediverse advertisements, so nobody gets to find out you exist. You’ll notice how in the media free software is never mentioned, ever, unless it’s something scary with the tired old picture of a dude in masked street garb looking to steal your families identity and make them destitute.

It’s sad people flee one shitty dystopia for another.

Only serves to grow the Fediverse, so i’m all for it.
