Unfortunately a lot of consumers don’t understand this. Even if they use “pro” apps daily. These same people will fall for Apples marketing tricks here regardless.

Id say they are most likely in good health. But anything could happen. Always reccomend having a backup option in place.

Agreed, i mainly mention Crystaldisk because its a quick free tool. Definitely reccomend using multiple avenues of info gathering to determine hardware health.

You can track the health status of most smart enabled ssds. Can use a tool like crystal disk info

Personally i have 2 7 year old ssds going strong without issue. Mainly used for storage and games, so the r/w rates been pretty lower on them.

Ssds do have a total maximum write cycles to nand. Really depends on the use cases over the 5 years.

Usually the games can run as solid as on windows. Only issue tends to be anti-cheat software not playing nice. Apex seems to function well via Proton. Checkout ProtonDB for a list of what’s working.

I find this comment so strange. People can enjoy somthing as a hobby, not everything needs to be completely practical / used as a tool. Like I explained I enjoy tinkering with 3d printers.

I went into conversation in the thread about what I print and a goal with another user.

This thread was purley asking for reccomendations on other aspects of the hobby and more of a what aspect of the hobby should I explore next. While listing what “tools” I have already experienced.

Thought conversion was the the whole point of having online communities around a related topic.

I use my printers various random objects, functional repair prints, stuff like that. Not doing any sort of production on them. I mainly just enjoy the hobby and messing around with the printers themselves with no objective.

Main reason I’ve been considering adding in a resin printer is more intricate small designs like game peices or some more complex shapes in general. Currently I get some pretty nice results as far as surface finishes go on the FDMs, but feel I could get more out of a resin print as far as micro details go.

Not exactly CRT quality, but likely the best we’ll have on modern displays.

I like to drop my cooling fan down to 10% and drop my layer hieght slightly for the first 3-5 layers of the prints for PETG. It tends to like to shift a bunch if cooled too quickly. I also have better results on a textured print surface.

Really comes down to the fidelity of the model you’re printing. If there’s a lot of micro detail and you want that to be encapsulated in the final print it could be worth sacrificing time for. Highly reccomend just playing around with a few prints to form your own opinion, as that’s half the fun of 3d printing!
