I think there’s just people that trust Valve more than Linux in general.
SteamOS on the deck is extremely foolproof, and people who are otherwise scared of Linux seem to think SteamOS magically fixes every perceived issue with desktop Linux.
That’s my best guess but I’m just some dude.
I’m gonna hope it’s a troll.
But some people are really weird about “owning” games. The other day I was in a call with someone who spend hours hunting through dodgy key selling sites to buy a delisted Steam game at nearly twice the price…
And yes I told them where else they could get it but they cared more about having the game appear on their Steam list than actually playing it.
It’s also near impossible to get real controllers here in the UK.
PS3 controllers still remain my favourite but had to switch to using a PS4 pad after getting scammed at multiple places.
AUR or flatpak.
Honestly the longer I spend daily driving Linux the more I enjoy using flatpaks…
I’m looking at it right now and it has two tabs for FTB Legacy and FTB App Import.
You can just download the offical Minecraft launcher for Linux but do yourself a favor and grab Prismlauncher. Even on Windows it’s just overall better.
If I recall correctly Linux Mint has flatpak support out of the box so you should be able to download it from the flathub link on the offical Prismlauncher site.
Funnily the first time I tried Linux on my desktop was because I wanted to play BF4 but the EA App refused to launch on Windows 10 even after restarting/reinstalling everything.
I slapped Pop_OS on a backup SSD and got it running through Lutris within the hour.
Origin was a fucking nightmare to use even on Windows, and honestly…the EA desktop app wasn’t really an improvement.
Big businesses couldn’t care less about where the money comes from as long as it ends up in their pockets.
Only thing stopping them from sending hired thugs to your house to shake the change out your pockets is the law. And even then they might try if the profit outweighs the penalty.
EndeavourOS cult following furry drama queen Mary Lee Harvey Oswald shot in the shower wbu?
This gibberish was brought to you by OpenBoard…
Maaaaybe, Who’s asking?
Shout out to my buddy who has been using an un-activated copy of Win10 for over 5 years despite being called out anytime he shares his screen.
And yes we told him how to but “It doesn’t bother him”
Can you remember the last version that worked for you? A quick workaround could be downloading an older build off the github.
Still this is extremely disappointing and hopefully someone forks it.
Devs who make the -h command actually useful are modern day saints.
The one kept at home until recently was some early 2000s white(yellowing) and blue thing, might have been Laser.
We had an Inkjet sometime around 2014 and went back to using the old one because it worked more of the time.
Half my family just email whatever they want printing to my Dad and he prints it at his workplace.
We’ve owned multiple printers over the years but 8/10 no matter what device you used, The printer just didn’t work. The “Dad strategy” has never failed.
I loved it back when Firefox was adding features like cross site cookie protection and copying urls without trackers.
If they got back on that path instead of Ai and “privacy friendly” tracking, Then they’ll start to regain my trust.
LibreWolf is just Firefox without Mozilla’s shadiness, So it’s kinda a hard sell to get me to go back.
To add to the software point, STOP buying hardware that requires some shitty software to fully work.
I did this back in the Windows 7 days years before I even knew anything about Linux. But Razers rootkit managed to load in before the Win7 login screen then crash it. After that I avoided any peripherals with mandatory software and it made my transition to Linux a lot easier than most people I know.
Pretty sure LibreWolf will ship without the Ai. They normally remove invasive stuff before compiling rather than disabling it in a config later.
Pretty much just a different GUI, If you ever used Notepad++ it’s the same as that.
