Spanish guy, who likes open source software and has just discovered the fediverse (as of 28th of April, 2022). I like video games, and indie and retro music. I’m a student. I’m officially diagnosed with ADHD and ASD since January, 2023.

America is a continent and Americans are people from that continent (Canadians, Usonians, Mexicans, Cubans, Argentinians, Brazilians…)

  • unless PeerTube finds a way to pay content creators

Google is a for-profit organization. Framasoft, which developed PeerTube, is a non-profit one. The only way to pay content creators is when people donate money to PeerTube and then PeerTube share that money with creators. Which is also difficult because there are no trackers to know internally who has more subscribers or which video has more views, etc. Internally as using a tracker, but you have to visit one by one every channel and every video to know its numbers.

  • I was about to left Lemmy/Kbin for good when some stupid fascists from Lemmy(grad).ml called me names and harassed me, despite the fact that I’m neurodivergent (like that would stop them from doing such actions, but anyway). And then I started blocking every community and user from those places, as well as any community/magazine about US politics or about any US topic because I don’t give a damn heck about that place. And my experience improved really well.

  • Fun fact: in the DOS version, when you possess an imp, the only task you can perform is to mine, you cannot do anything more except attack. In keeperfx, you can grab corpses and take then to your graveyard, or grab traps and put them in place. I’m not sure whether you can put gold in your treasure room as well.

EDIT: it also fixes the bug when level 10 creatures use their speed spell, so it lasts until the end, instead of just 5 seconds.

  • I started using Linux in 2008, and full time in 2011. I remember I could play natively to a bunch of games, like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Neverball, Torcs, Dark Oberon, and others. I enjoyed those games, and I still enjoy some of them today. I think it was in 2013 when Steam announced it was coming to Linux, and native ports came too, like Braid and Dynamite Jack. Now, despite my hardware limitations, I can enjoy GTA IV, Stellaris, Prison Architect, Dwarf Fortress, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe…

Things changed for the better, and thanks to Steam Deck, it’ll keep changing.

  • Imagine the fediverse is a big city, like New York or Tokyo, and every service is a neighbourhood inside that city. Meta’s Threads is another new neighbourhood.

Can that new neighbourhood affect the whole city? Being a big city, I don’t think so, in the same way Shibuya or Wall Street can’t affect the whole Tokyo or New York.

Can that new neighbourhood affect the bordering neighbourhoods? Absolutely, it would be disingenuous to state the opposite.

So, the fediverse will stay safe. But about Mastodon, Misskey, Pleroma… I don’t know. It depends.
