I absolutely refuse to buy a car where the only thing in the dash is a single big touchscreen. This is a really cheap and lazy way to design a car. It’s not fancy or futuristic. It’s turning an engineering problem into a cheap software problem.
If electric vehicles 10 years from now don’t re-engineer buttons, dials and knobs into their cars I am just going to walk 30 miles every day.
I agree if we are talking about being this zoomed in. However, at standard viewing distances the difference becomes negligible. As well as on small retro devices with 3-4 inch screens.
I suppose it is a preference of metal or plastic and vertical or horizontal form factor. There is also joystick and D-Pad placement. Since I almost never use the joysticks for retro gaming I prefer the D-pad and buttons to be on the top. I also prefer the metal casing to the plastic, but it is slightly heavier.
I wouldn’t hate an Octopath Traveler style remake, but it would have to be really well done. It definitely doesn’t need to exist though as it is fine as is.
It’s amazing and a bit sad how Tesla convinced people that it is some kind of luxury.
