I’m mostly joking and for those wondering why it matters, we’re out of public IPv4 addresses and ISPs are starting to go IPv6 only in some places. From the post:

New ISPs in my country are IPv6-only because there is no new IPv4 space to be provided to them. They do have a over-shared IPv4 address by CGNAT but due to the oversharing, it is unstable and not rare to be offline. For these companies, the internet access is stable only in IPv6.

Same. I’ve been using NameCheap for years. I have 3 or 4 domains for different things. I really just need a registrar to hold my names and DNS which rarely changes. My domains auto-renew every year and I barely have to think about it. They’re fine for my needs, no complaints.

I’ve been using a Synology NAS for years. I use file and photo sync and it works pretty well. I just set up Surveillance Station (their security camera recording software) and connected an inexpensive camera to it. It works really well although it took me a while to figure everything out.

If you’re concerned about data loss, you can set up a backup to Amazon S3 or another backup/storage service or you can put a Synology NAS somewhere else and have it back up to that. You could also have it sync with a service like One Drive.

I like to tinker so I’ve set up a couple other things on it including a Plex server, pi hole, and a VPN Server. It’s a pretty versatile device.

The stance from this author sounds like someone who doesn’t want to have a dozen social media accounts. If only there was a way to have one account that could participate across a wide variety of sites. We could call it… The togethercosmos!

Yeah, people tend to forget how this all started. He just wanted to see under the hood and he was told that the only way he could do that was if he bought the company.

He saw a big opportunity to both get what he wanted and to manipulate the stock market in a big way. So he made a credible offer thinking that he was smart enough to create a loophole that would give him a way out. His loophole didn’t pan out although the stock market manipulation arguably did.

He got too far along in the process to back out and the SEC doesn’t fuck around. There was no option other than to actually make good on his offer to buy the company. I don’t think he ever truly wanted to own Twitter, but I never thought he would set the company ablaze in such a spectacular fashion.
