Lol, well if we agree on something then you know it’s serious. This guy doesn’t seem to understand that his issue with “Lemmy” is a fundamental one.

The purpose, 👏THE.👏PURPOSE.👏of the ActivityPub protocol is to give ultimate moderation power to instance owners (as opposed to a singular, usually corporate, owner).
That is (and I can’t stress this enough) the entire point.

ActivityPub is designed to create platforms that enable customized moderation experiences in order to resist corporate/commercial influence.
ActivityPub also resists government censorship, because a thousand copies get made for every post, one for every federated instance.
If you’re looking for a platform where your personal speech can be forced upon others then ActivityPub is quite literally the opposite of what you’re looking for.

Sometimes yes in my experience, but mostly it works fine. I suspect it’s a game of whack-a-mole with VPN companies constantly rotating IPs.

When will F-Droid stop working on stock android?

That’s actually interesting because Google’s MVNO is on T-Mobile and Google was pushing hard for RCS.

And you get to determine who is “steadfastly evil”?

When you remember that in order to even get the death penalty, you have to be such a horrible person that you’re pretty much no longer human
This is just absolutely not true. Throughout history countless innocent people have been executed not because of the facts, but because they were unable to defend themselves against the accusations. Meanwhile, many wealthy or powerful people have been guilty but never even charged with a crime. In fact, the nature of a crime has almost zero correlation with the sentence.

If you truly believe that all humans are equal then you must also believe that it is impossible for one to stand in judgment of another. I believe that killing is wrong because it is one human standing in judgement of another. Society has a duty to protect its members, but judgement and the concept of “punishment” is something that should be left to God.

I just last month tried out Bazzite for fun and haven’t switched back. I feel like an idiot for sticking with Windows as long as I did. I was the metaphorical frog in the pot of water not realizing how shitty it had become. I guess I should be grateful there isn’t any program I need that’s Windows only because Bazzite is better than Windows in every way I can think of.

This quote from Ford’s CEO:
“It’s going to be a vibrant industry, but it’s going to be smaller, way smaller than we thought,” Ford chief executive Jim Farley said at an event on Tuesday.
Combined with the following quote he recently said:
Speaking on the Everything Electric Show podcast, Farley praised the [Xiaomi] electric sedan. “I don’t like talking about the competition so much, but I drive a Xiaomi,” he said. “We flew one from Shanghai to Chicago, and I’ve been driving it for six months now, and I don’t want to give it up.”
Really feels like Kodak in the 90’s kinda-sorta investing in digital but not willing to fully transform a majority of business.
my question is, does it really matter doing all of that before deleting when it comes to privacy?
It doesn’t hurt to be thorough but FWIW they say it will be deleted:
What happens if I permanently delete my Facebook account?
Your profile, photos, posts, videos, and everything else you’ve added will be permanently deleted. You won’t be able to retrieve anything you’ve added.

But there are dozens of people in this very thread who if I am understanding correctly are willing to offer the same service for free to prove their point that Plex is evil.

ok

If these catch on (unlikely imo) it’s only a matter of time before I have an awkward interaction with someone when they come into my house wearing them…

Sorry to have annoyed you.

idk I find $2/month to be very reasonable. I don’t feel squeezed.
EDIT: Just to be clear there is no amount of condescending replies form trilby wearing neckbeard keyboard warriors that will change my opinion.

I know it’s fashionable to shit on Plex here, but OP either has his server misconfigured or is just trying to stir the pot:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202526943-plex-free-vs-paid/
Free to Use: Video (movies & TV) streaming of personal content on the same local network as the Plex Media Server

Also the weekly intentionally misunderstanding how Plex pass/Plex remote pass works in order to complain:
Free to Use: Video (movies & TV) streaming of personal content on the same local network as the Plex Media Server
I have a sensor on my front door that triggers an automation that sends a text to everyone’s phones that is (supposed to) trigger a location update. It then waits ten seconds and checks everyone’s phones to see what wifi network they are connected to, it then waits another ten seconds and if nobody’s location is “home”, or nobody’s wifi is the home network, then it texts everyone an alert of a possible break in.
Only about 50% of the time does it correctly identify someone legitimately coming home lol
