Asking lemmy.ml if Israel is bad is not a great idea if you actually want a nuanced/balanced answer. Honestly, I’d recommend just taking your research elsewhere and steering clear of social media on this one.

I think the problem with that is you shouldn’t judge either side by the numher of casualties they’ve committed but rather the casualties they would commit if they could. I legitimately think if Hamas could kill every last Jew in Israel with the push of a button they probably would. Or at least, every Jew that refused to leave the middle east.
There’s plenty of precedent for that though. HSA money, personal mobile device usage, credit for using mass transit… they are compensating specific things. Food is a bit odd to be honest; I’m not sure why they don’t just pay you cash.
I dealt with this for a while, although I don’t think that it was depression related. I think it was more to with stress from work/ moving.
Exercise is good, I think going to bed earlier is counterproductive. You may want to look at sleep restriction therapy- the idea is that you are trying to minimize the time you spend in bed while not asleep.
What do you do when you wake up? Keep in mind that waking up in the middle of the night is completely normal- everyone does it, it’s just normally you fall right back asleep and don’t think about it. Are you scrolling on your phone, getting up or just laying there? Definitely don’t look at your phone at all, that’s probably the most important aspect of sleep hygiene.
Ultimately I think for me what helped me get over this was just becoming “zen” about waking up early. When it first started happening to me I was thinking “ah shit not again! I need to relax right now to fall back to sleep! Oh no another 30 minutes have passed and I’m still awake!”. But over time I would just wake up early and be like “eh whatever, hopefully I can get back to sleep.” Being okay with not falling back asleep makes it easier to fall back to sleep, it’s kind of a catch-22.
Other things that have helped:
-Going back to the being chill about waking up early, try taking magnesium glycinate. Again I wouldn’t treat this as a long term fix but it might help short term. It’s a mild sedative, I find it helps me sleep more deeply and relax.
-Are you getting cold? I have a high metabolism and I get colder as the night goes on. Adding an extra blanket when you wake up might help you fall back to sleep by lowering your metabolism.
-if you’re laying awake for more than an hour it’s time to get up. That goes back to the sleep hygiene thing as well. You want to make your bedroom a sleep sanctuary. During the day keep your time in the bedroom to a bare minimum and don’t go to bed until you feel properly tired.
I hope it gets better for you m8. Improving sleep is tricky because it’s not something you can actively try at, at least not the same way you exercise or something. I should add that there are super-short-duration antidepressants that you can take to fall back to sleep. There mentioned to me by a doctor although I never took them so I don’t remember the name of the drug.
Practically speaking that seams to have the same meaning
Yeah I’m not defending that but CEO pay only rounds to like 1% of their total expenditures. Developing a browser is expensive.

Whatever it is, it’s been around for at least 3 years.
Is it? It’s just a forum it’s not like he’s asking the devs
Isn’t that exactly what Repubicans did with the election?
-Make a bunch of baseless claims of fraud
-“Look guys we need to do something, trust in the election process is low!”
No I get that, but this is different honestly. Look up rates of teenage depression/anxiety/suicide attempts, it’s a stunning correlation with the advent of smartphones and social media. Millenials got out just in time.
Look collusion is a thing, but it’s illegal. Grocery stores, even the big chains in the US anyways are pretty cutthroat, they aren’t making huge profits they’re fighting to survive vs Amazon and the like. Anyways my point is that the claim that costs don’t affect prices (and therefore losses from theft don’t affect prices) is just silly.
I read through the article and I agree that it is wrong for Target and other companies to blame crime for underperformance when crime isn’t the real culprit. But that was an example involving 9 stores. There are tons of examples of stores closing citing crime if you search for it. I think it’s unhelpful to hand wave all of them away as PR.
At least the US government can’t harvest US citizens social media data without a warrant (excepting all the patriot act stuff). But there is zero protection for your data from the CCP if it’s on TikTok. That’s understandably a pretty huge security concern. I can also understand China not wanting data from their citizens in the hands of American social media companies. Idk if any if it is good or bad but it’s certainly common sense on a national level.
TikTok is very heavily influenced by the CCP and could be used to collect data from Americans (probably they already are). Not wanting your biggest geopolitical rival to harvest data from your citizens is pretty understandable.
The breaking point, though, is the point when consumers will look to alternatives, e.g. a different store. As long as there are other options available, competition does usually do a decent job of keeping prices down.
So I guess your saying since stopping one theft from happening won’t significantly change that markup, you should not even try to stop theft (even if bringing down prices is a good thing for poor people who don’t steal). But by that same logic, why bother trying to reduce your carbon footprint? I mean look, if I see someone walking out of the grocery store with food I’m not gonna say anything. But I wouldn’t extent that to retail theft in general.
Theft does make prices go up though, you know? It also makes stores close in underserved communities.
Mozilla Corporation is technically for-profit, but they are committed to investing all of their profits back into Mozilla Foundation. They have no shareholders. It exists so that Mozilla can make money off of their products and reinvest it, not to make money for its executives.
…it doesn’t?
