The craziest thing that demonstrates how shitty our healthcare system is, is that they made a goddamn movie 25 years ago about a guy holding people hostage in a children’s hospital at gunpoint to get his child a surgery when payment was denied and nobody found that premise outlandish.

I learned that I’m essentially trapped in my country without massive amounts of money or a rare skill set. I have neither. I’ll just have to ride the fascist wave out if they succeed.

A significant number of people seem to have fully embraced the nonsensical “tee hee, I’m so random” scene kid humor from 2004 MySpace. This one is pretty mild. It gets worse and less funny.

Because the government would have to hire the employees directly for this, versus the company that is contracted to do so.

When the government contracts for IT equipment, it comes with terms about maintenance, updates, and life cycle. It would require a much higher cost, especially in FTE funding, to ensure that open source code is viable and safe before deployment. I’m not implying that there are zero risks or errors with contracts, though they do provide some benefits.

A family friend once invited us over to celebrate a promotion. To celebrate, they prepared an expensive meal and had expensive alcohols. The star of the meal was a thinly sliced piece of raw horsemeat. It was not particularly interesting, though it was very tender. I think it was more intended to “share the wealth” than for its actual appeal and flavor profile, though I was a kid and there was a cultural difference, so maybe I’m wrong. This isn’t meta throwing a tantrum, it’s the news site’s throwing a tantrum. They want social media and search engines to pay them for simply linking to their site. Social media and search engines drive traffic to news sites, these morons are shooting themselves in the foot and reducing their own revenue.

If I could have an ai fool a company and earn a check for me, that would be amazing. Unfortunately, I have zero expertise in how to make that happen.

I have a similar reaction to things. Unfortunately, it often causes people to look at me to figure shit out in the moment. Just because I’m not freaking out doesn’t mean I know a damn thing about the correct course of action right now.

This is a nonsensical argument. If I were running a website, I would also ban any account selling sex. The amount of legal exposure you’d face regarding human trafficking is too great. I’m not going to spend resources trying to sift through these accounts so some randos can profit, especially when accounts tied to trafficking would still be missed. I’m not pro-corporations, this just makes practical sense.
