Well there is the Stop Killing Games initiative started by Ross Scott and supported by the Pirate Parties. If they succeed, companies selling games in recent years will be required to either keep supporting their game or to make it available in a way so that others can ensure its continued support.

When this is achieved the step to free older games is small.

Ich bin für die Piraten aktiv, auch aktuell am Plakatieren. Jede Stadt und Gemeinde hat da Regeln (allgemeine wie: “Nicht die Sicht in Kreuzungen versperren”, “nicht an Schilder die fließenden Verkehr regeln” und spezielle wie “Die Plakate müssen den Boden berühren” - München, “selbe Partei mindestens 100m Abstand” - FFB) Die meisten halte ich für sinnvoll. Doch Volt hängt hier einfach überall, in Kreisverkehren, auf Verkehrsinseln, an Vorfahrtsschildern, …

Wir Piraten bekommen in München schnell einen Hinweis “Da hängt ein Plakat falsch, 3 Tage für den Beweis, dass ihr euch drum gekümmert habt, sonst 75 € und später mehr” Wird bei Volt nicht anders sein. Trotzdem hängen deren Plakate, teils direkt neben welchen von uns die gemeldet wurden, noch wochenlang da.

Ergo sagen sie entweder “Wir leisten uns das” und haben entsprechend Geld, oder sie sind überfordert von all den Meldungen und nach der Wahl pleite.

Die Piraten folgen tatsächlich der Wissenschaft und sind auch deshalb gegen Atomkraft (und die aktuell breit gepushte Wasserstoffinitiative)

Zudem haben sie im Parlament auch einiges erreicht. Genug, dass sogar, ohne Witz, Sonneborn sie empfiehlt.

Vor allem natürlich beim Datenschutz, aber die tschechischen z.B. auch beim Klimaschutz.

Ein gemeinsames Europäisches Programm gibts länger als Volt, und diesmal stehen die Chancen gut auch aus Luxemburg Piraten ins Parlament zu bekommen :)

Maybe Kolibri OS?

Its an amazing project, booting from a single floppy disk into a full graphical OS with multiple tools. And that on PCs with almost no RAM.

I sometimes use it to backup ancient PCs.

And where do maintainers for the new parts of systemd come from? The larger systemd grows the more parts of it will be neglected. Also in regard to people checking commits, opening up doors for exploits like the one in xz.

Channel ist bezogen auf die gleichzeitig genutzten Speicherriegel. Abhängig vom Mainboard kannst du Dual Channel oder Quad Channel nutzen, das fordert dann entsprechend viele Speicherriegel.

Generell ist wichtig, die Speichersticks richtig einzusetzen, damit man Dualchannel nutzen kann. Siehe Mainboard Handbuch. Aber die Gewinne werden schnell kleiner, schon Quad Channel bringt bei vielen Anwendungen praktisch nix gegenüber Dual Channel oder einen Dual Rank Riegel. Deswegen können einige Consumermainboards auch mit vier RAMriegeln nur Dual Channel.

Im Serverbereich gibt es auch Octorank RAMriegel und Quad und mehr Channel.

Mehr hochgetaktete Speichersticks sind generell besser als wenige mit hohem Rank.

Interesting. For the Nokia N900 there is Maemo Leste which also uses mainline Linux (+ a few patches they are working to mainline) and there everything works. Mind that works means in this case: Does what I want if I issue a number of console commands. However most of it by now even works via the GUI.

Keep in mind that Leste is a project by a few enthusiasts and writing drivers for undocumented hardware is a monumental task, writing GUI for a whole mobile OS is also complicated. So it is utterly astonishing, how far they got!

The point is, they already did. 99% of webservers run Linux. They are all out in the open and hackers love to get their hand on them as they are likely to have mailservers on them and they have a public IP so they can always be reached.

And most of them do not get hacked. And those that do mostly get hacked due to bad passwords or bad website code. I administer one and see the thousands of attacks running up against it daily (most are just attempts to log in with basic credentials). And of course I see the daily influx of updates from Linux.

If a new security flaw is seen, its often quite difficult to use. And with Linux somebody makes a patch before simple tool for hackers are out. With Microsoft products you wait till the next patch day, in the best case critical exploited bugs are patched in days. Also security flaws in closed source products are often easier to exploit and tools to use them are available fast. (Such flaws are often already discovered in open source products by third eyes and testers before they make it to production systems.)

Of course there are exceptions to the rule, like heartbleed. This was an easy to exploit flaw in an often used Linux service and it caused a big turmoil because many where to slow to patch their systems.

Also of course if Linux gets more popular on the desktop more software will be an attractive target for malicious actors and some software may get popular before many people take a look at the source code. But the situation will still be much better compared to closed source systems.

(Also of course more closed source software will be made for Linux then)

Sure because Error Code 0x8007057 tells you immediately how to solve the problem.

Linux error messages like error: kex_exchange_identification: client sent invalid protocol identifier "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.1" are completely arcane tough.

I support both systems. And Linux support is so much easier. Mostly in runs out of the box. If it runs I continues to do so and If you have an error you get a specific message like above.

With such a message you either:

• See right away how to solve the problem
• Search it online and get a specific solution for exactly you problem
• Or you can ask Experts for a solution for your specific problem.

With Windows: No systems runs out of the box, I always have to install additional software (7zip, sane browser, …) and also for anybody remotely privacy concerned have to adjust many settings (for which tools exist thankfully)

If an error occurs under Windows and I get a code like above:

• I can sometimes guess by my experience what the reason is and solve it.
• If not I search the error code and circumstances which lead to it online, then apply the 20 solutions presented one by one in hope one works
• Ask experts which ask me to run a bunch of diagnostic utilities because the error message does not tell you anything. (Yes by now I can also guess which utility could provide relevant information, but not because Windows told me)
• In a noticeable amount of cases the solution is: We can not determine the reason for the error, please reset everything (First a restart, then run this cleanup tool and if this doesn’t help just reinstall!)

Ermordet von Microsoft.

Symbian war in einer Sackgasse, also wurde ein neues System entwickelt. Maemo, dann Meego OS. Doch dann kam Microsoft und platzierte Stephen Elop bei Nokia.

Das Nokia N9, das erste Telefon mit dem Meego OS. wurde noch veröffentlicht, aber nur auf wenigen Märkten. In Deutschland, den USA, Canada und England kam es nie auf den Markt. Denn es sollten die “tollen” neuen Windows Phones verkauft werden. Ich erinnere mic, überall war Werbung für die Lumia Geräte.

Dennoch verkaufte sich das N9 lange Zeit besser als alle Windows Phones zusammen weil das Betriebssystem einfach so gut war, und der Formfaktor auch. Doch ohne Updates war die Erfolgsgeschichte von Meego OS bald vorbei. Bald darauf auch die von Nokias Handysparte, weil die Windows Phones sich immer noch nicht verkauften.

Mit den Wiesen hast du vollkommen recht, hier ein Paper in dem der Einfluss von Pflanzen untersucht wurde. Genau der Effekt durch die Wurzeln Würfen beobachtet.

Das Argument lieber Wildwiesen als englischer Rasen unterstütze ich. Wobei selbst ein flach wurzelnder Rasen schon Oberflächensiegel verhindert.

Das Video ist zwar schön kurz und einfach, aber falsch. Das Gras führt beim nassen Boden dazu, dass der Becher nicht abdichtet und das Wasser rausläuft. So schnell wie im Video versickert Wasser ja nicht mal in Sand!

Hier hat jemand das Experiment ordentlich wiederholt: Plastikröhren in den Boden geschlagen, oben offen und dann genau aufgezeichnet, mit welcher Rate Wasser versickert.

Das Ergebnis ist ganz anders. Es ist umgekehrt! Wobei es bei passenden Böden (lehmig) tatsächlich zur Bildung eines Oberflächensiegels kommen kann, dass hält aber nur wenige Minuten. (Was bei Deichbrüchen sehr relevante Minuten sein können)

Wäre ja schön, denn da kann man noch was zum Positiven ändern. (Und würde Russland eine Propagandazutat nehmen)
