Seconded. I think they are usually $2-3 per month depending on the frequency of use.

Scientist, experience in vaccines/drug delivery/chemistry/analytics/biochemistry/protection of eggs dropped from tall structures
Seconded. I think they are usually $2-3 per month depending on the frequency of use.
Lol, what? WTF kind of advice is this?
NO. You talk him like a peer and respectfully say “stop,” you don’t run to the fucking work police and try to get his ass in trouble because he’s annoying you and you never told him you were annoyed. Why would you complain to HR because someone annoyed you when they don’t even know they did it?
Sure, let’s just escalate this shit and make his life worse, guarantee he’ll be pissed off at you because you didn’t react like a reasonable person, you did what the institution that most alienates you from your humanity suggested ( your workplace, complain to HR), and make the entire situation worse than it ever needed to be. Let’s just jump to firing the guy while we’re at it, because a negative tip to HR for a person in their probationary period might be that anyway!
Fuck off with this advice.
Going to HR at this point in this situation DOES mean you aren’t a team player. It’s like shooting your teammate’s knee out instead of passing the baton if you were running in a relay race.
Talk to the man like a human.
In 2023, the US government returned the remains of some children who were sent to the boarding schools (it’s still ongoing). Aside from the bones of children, there were also animal bones. Why were there animal bones mixed in? Because the children’s remains were pulled from where the school’s rubbish was buried. Separating the bones after all this time would be difficult.
I can think of no better reflection of how the US government treats indigenous people wherever it encounters them. Indigenous Americans have probably received some of the worst treatment. As always, actions speak louder than words.
The people who dug up graves in the early 20th century just didn’t see the locals as people, though, which is also why most of those museums were in Europe, not anywhere near where the artifacts were found
The people who inherited those artifacts also don’t see locals as people.

A pharaoh is a king, and fuck the king.
Agreed. We should let the descendents of those they ruled over decide what to do with the legacy of those kings, not the thieving invaders who likewise viewed themselves as better than the locals.
I’m personally not a fan of most of their albums, but I have to say that put on a great live show. They started as a cover band and last I saw them, they did a bunch of covers of 70-80s rock, all of which were very well done.
I appreciate this and will do the same. 10 hours of They’re Taking the Hobbits to Isengard. Anyone who can make it at least 3 hours and is singing along instead of stabbing me is a go for date two.
More improvement in the area of vaccine technology, acceptance, and adoption of these techniques: alternative forms of administration, less reliance on boosters, improved thermal stability. A better understanding of the immune system, neuroscience, and human biology in general. I expected more infectious diseases to be eradicated such as HIV, TB, and malaria.
These things are progressing and I see hope in how technologies are progressing, but I believe vaccine and infectious disease research and development have been severely limited by the industry’s obsession with intellectual property and pursuit of profit. Our understanding of human biology has improved, but thinking back to my teenage years, I was naive as to how complicated biology is and how little we actually understand.
I’m still a bit salty no one ever brought dinosaurs back from the grave. Our progression in flight technology has been disappointing without flying saucers too.
It’s just the worst one.
Agreed.
For instance, G Suite is now so thoroughly integrated into school workflows that, even if they collect nothing from students while under 13 (ha!), they are setting kids up to harvest their data in the future by forcing them to learn how to perform basic tasks only on their apps. It’s like advertising fruity cigarettes or vapes, but for data.
It’s not just that all of these companies harvest everyone’s data, but so many of them are specifically targeting kids from as young of an age as they can.
Seems like a good idea except for how often these states already force their own spyware and backdoors onto projects. Ideally, the state would fund it, but given their history, I’d prefer costs were covered by user donations as the interests of the users are the only interests I trust. We are the only group that is truly independent of competing interests.
Crowd funding and donations obviously have their own drawbacks. Maybe we can find a work around to avoid the privacy violations of states in the future, but I don’t have a simple answer for how to accomplish this. The way the FOSS community operates is currently the best alternative I’ve seen, but I’m sure it’s not always lucrative for developers. People need to be compensated for their labor and our current systems tend to put development interests at odds with user interests.
While we’re at it, we should add Microsoft to the antitrust case…again.
Typical. You post a reasonable response and get a bunch of ad-pilled shit takes:
“But will you eat shit if I put a little chocolate on it?”
“If you don’t eat shit, you don’t deserve to interact with the internet eat.”
“Maybe if you pay them a little money, they’ll stop trying to serve you shit?”
Advertisers contribute nothing of value to our society and contribute little of value to even the companies they serve. Let them burn. Every action they take to “serve” me ads will be met with an equal counteraction.
We deserve to live a life without being constantly bombarded with messages telling us to buy, buy, buy! This significantly decreases our quality of life and is endemic within our entire society. What the hell are all of you who defend advertisers thinking?
Give them an inch and they will take a mile. It definitely won’t be the first time.
Went to a wedding and the pastor’s pre-ceremony sermon was fire and brimstone followed by a rant about how it was God who gave him the right to marry, not the state. Lots of stuff about the wife being subservient to the husband and acting as his servant. The deep state government was being controlled by a satanists who call themselves secular humanists. Marriage can only happen between a man and a woman and the state was defiling marriage by allowing gays to marry, but it wasn’t real marriage according to God. Some really wacky stuff to talk about at a celebration. Killed the mood.
Turns out my friends had joined one of those extreme, right-wing cults and this was their normal pastor. This group was worse than any of the usual bad actors and interacting with any of their congregation was weird. We fell out of touch for some reason.
Cake is not bread.
According to Urban Dictionary, cake is: Another word meaning ass or butt.
Bread is: The shit you throw at ducks to get them to fuck off.
They said reduce first. Get yourself sterilized and you can reduce your use of contraceptives.
Did you mean a slave who has recently graduated to indentured servant status?
Mostly in the recommended reading order, but he listed some notes on their importance or when they can be skipped, etc. with many of the sources, particularly at the start of the list.
This should take you up through where you were at State and Revolution and where to go next. I have to say that the recommendation others have given for Black Shirts and Reds is also a very good place to start for the reasons they gave.
Almost all of these can be found on the internet archive, Anna’s Archive, or you can ask around on lemmy.ml or lemmygrad.ml for free digital copies. While some people prefer physical books, there shouldn’t be any need to pay for these unless you want to.
Which books…would you recommend?
@Dessalines@lemmy.ml put together a good reading list that includes the reading order.

Care to share what you meant by this?
Easy solution: don’t go. You’re leaving, you don’t owe them your time.
