If you aren’t ready to fully commit to installing it on a hard drive, you could probably make a live USB stick of Linux. There are installers built to run on windows that will install Linux onto a USB drive, which you can boot from after turning off your PC. That way, you don’t need to worry about wiping or resetting an old computer just to see if you like it.

Unfortunately, most Windows users are not tech savy and will never move to Linux, regardless of how user-friendly Linux becomes. It would take large-scale retailers switching their computers to have Linux pre-installed instead of Windows before any meaningful transition happens.

Every day, my work computers force a shutdown-update, take 20 minites, fail the update, recover from the failed update, and then force a 24-hour timer to do it again that I can’t turn off. IT doesn’t care.

I’m pretty sure that has been able to be emulated and run through most emulation software now. These Star Wars games had specific code and drivers that, when I looked up why it wouldn’t emulate years ago, had not been cracked open to get the source code to enable people to program it into emulation software.

The keyboard controls are very janky. You’d have to do custom button mapping with a controller, and there’s no analog input. At least not without some mods that I’m not sure exist.

IIRC, the original cartridge had an extra chip in it that emulation hasn’t been able to use. I’m not sure if any progress has been made on this and a few other games that used these.

I wore some of these at work for a while to listen to music, since earbuds were an OSHA safetey issue.

• They are horrible in loud environments. I had to turn them up so high thay they would vibrate, which was an unpleasent feeling.
• However, you can still hear them fine with OSHA approved earplugs, but then the music sounds all muffled.
• You can find lots of different ones on Amazon and such just by searching for bone conduction headphones, ranging from cheap to expensive.
• The ones I got cost about $20 at the time, and had an okay sound quality, but not much bass.

I leaned about these from the Soundband Kickstarter over a decade ago, whoch I backed. None of the backers ever got a product, as it seems the creators dropped the project and ran with the money. Those ones had the bone-conduction wrap around the ear. Instead of sit on the bone in front of the ear.

Edit, to add a few points:

• They were comfortable enough to wear for several hours, but the vibration got real annoying if I had to turn up the volume due to a loud environment. The band that wraps around the ears could get uncomfortable after a while.
• It didn’t irratate my skin, but vibration at loud volumes was uncomfortable.
• I wore these with glasses no problem.
• The band that wraps around wasn’t tight, but fit okay enough to not flop around while working. Not sure about for jogging or other work-outs.

Nobody _earns a billion dollars. It can only be stolen and exploited from other peoples’ labor.

You’re welcome! Most mods that add things that aren’t natively programmed will need OBSE. Also, make sure you enable the mod in the Data Files menu (I think that’s it) in the dialog that opens before you start the game.

Edit: some mods don’t require a .esp or .esm file, and won’t show up in your Data Files menu.

This mod requires the OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) to be installed in order to function. I’m not sure if that requires anything special to install in linux, but get that working and this mod should work with it.

Edit: it appears OBSE has instructions for installing the script extender in linux.

I actually saw this documentary about people with a quicksand fetish, who go out in groups and just lounge in quicksand (without the getting swallowed/dying part). They said they loved the way it felt on their skin and being enveloped by it, among other things. It wasn’t desert quicksand, but it looked kind of wet.

I think most real-life examples have been plagued by corruption to the point that they fall into a different category altogether.

That’s not really what I was going for. Whoops. I probably should have worded it differently. The streaming-only crowd shouldn’t really be affected that much is the point I meant to make.

I think the point they were trying to get across, at least in the notice they sent me, is people are losing this because crunchyroll has no implementation for these digital copies. It wasn’t clear if they were going to add this feature to crunchyroll, but I bet they are waiting to see how much of a shitstorm it causes before determining if it’s worth the revenue loss of the people leaving.

You can transfer your watchlist and show progress to Crunchyroll, but the only thing that doesn’t transfer is digital purchases. I don’t think many people actually have purchased content, so most people aren’t losing anything.

Edit: dang man people hate this comment lol, I wasn’t trying to say it wasn’t a bad move. The less-than-most people who did purchase digital copies are getting screwed.

Edit 2: I didn’t really consider the digital copies that come with dvd and blu-ray purchases. The notice they sent me sounded like they didn’t have any of this implemented in crunchyroll. It smells like they are testing how much money they can save against how much revenue is lost from people leaving because of this before making any promises.
