If you haven’t read the hackaday comments I highly recommend you do. Some really great behind the scenes experiences people are posting. Super cool.

I was sold on laser the minute I had to print something after a month of not needing to and it just popped out before I could get to it (thanks for AirPrint/wifi printing). My old inkjet would’ve been dried up and had to be cleaned taking like 10 minutes and wasting paper. Yeah, laser is the only way to go.
We just print photos from Walgreens or Shutterfly if we need quality color photos. Super cheap and I don’t have to maintain the equipment. Although about the only photo printing we do these days is large for the wall on glass or canvas.
Our favorite photos are also displayed on our living room AppleTV’s screensaver. We just favorite them in the Photos app and they automatically show up. My parents are used to seeing our favorite photos from vacations when house sitting before we’ve even told them what attraction we’re doing. Best feature ever.

GB:
This is what got me. There are 5 of us in our household and all of us have devices. 500/500 is what I went with even though I could have 1Gb/1Gb. Most of the time 500/500 is faster than the servers we’re on. I don’t do a ton of download images or anything and we’ve never had an issue streaming 4K/gaming all at once so on it we sit. I just don’t see the point of moving to 1Gb. I’ll probably have to be forced onto it in the future. My service has 2.5Gb in places and is looking to go 10Gb at some point. That’s just completely unnecessary currently and would be a waste of money for most.
Agreed, we’re living in the a computer/phone is an appliance age. This is also why there is a movement that doesn’t like electric vehicles. They’re just too accessible and they don’t like that. Same mentality here. The only main difference is of course there is librehardware out there AND software. Just about the entirety of Linux ecosystem is this. If one wants to tinker and make them personal all one has to do is build a home lab. Plenty of maintenance on one of those and it’s probably not affecting one’s day to day life.
Holy alts!
That’s a good summary. Google Gemini is no better. Type in a question and it starts off great but then devolves into other brands, other steps to do something that isn’t related to the thing you asked. It’s just terrible and someone will sue them over it next year. Just wait.
This exactly. I was saying that as a user, not a creator. I make money away from social media so I don’t care to bring that to my personal space.
My experience has been better. User engagement is much higher per follower and the discussions don’t devolve. They’re much more useful and/or interesting. KPIs don’t measure everything.
Their point is that China doesn’t innovate, they imitate. And when they try to innovate they fake it (see Chinese robots that are actually humans in costumes). Authoritarianism doesn’t generally lend to productive creativity no matter how many people they have to pool from.
Depends on the situation honestly. We offer financing through my work for our clients and the 0% option is still a good deal. Not all of them are designed to screw people.
Using uYou via AltStore and it’s such a better experience. I’d rather stop using YouTube altogether than pay Alphabet to use YouTube without ads. I’m not enabling user hostile behavior to push people into Premium. Screw that.
And it’s hard for anyone to say no to multi-millions that will change your family’s life by selling when it’s not even 1% of the corporations profit. Can’t blame them for selling out really. I’d do the same thing and so would you.
And? How has that harmed you overall?
Not saying I like that they track everything but I’ve yet to see it impact me personally.
Yep, the rich are rich because they borrow other peoples money. 0% free interest lines are about the best discount you can get on anything. I get to make the interest while you hold the loan? Sign me up! Siri, remind me in 11 months to pay off the X loan.
Ugh, my elderly neighbor was going on about how Harris was going to take away this and that, most of which I’d never heard her say or even read about her plans doing, and I said, “where did you hear that? It was Fox News wasn’t it?” He replied with, “well, what news do you watch?” I said, “it sure isn’t Fox where they lie constantly. Harris hasn’t said any of that crap … you need to get your news from multiple sources.”
We’d be a heck of a lot better off if the news agencies were held accountable for telling lies and making up stories. Yeah, I know it’s a fine line but it’s one I’m willing to walk at this point.
Yeah, ink-jet is crap and that’s never going to change.
This easily looks like the best original fan made game ever. Good grief what creativity!
I mean they’re not wrong. Nobody in business gives a crap about anyone other than Google for reviews and correct business info. If you don’t show up in Google, you may as well not exist.
Somebody’s been watching Picard.
