We still don’t understand quite how the brain works or how consciousness comes from neurons.

Someone will be blamed, if you carry it out then you share the blame.
He announced it as part of a tax break scam, then let the project die.
China does the same.
First, negotiations are not yet over, so they’re hoping courts overturn the ban.
Second, TikTok is very popular outside the US too, though 40% of ad revenue is in the US. They’d survive.
We all know that’s inconsistent. Let’s start with the fact that if this was just about money, Google wouldn’t be investing money on expensive like green initiatives or large donations to nonprofits.
If employees wanted to take time off to grieve for the LGBT deaths at the Pulse nightclub shooting, the company would have supported them. Would they have done the same for people grieving over dead Palestinian children, or fire them for not meeting their work requirements or ‘disrupting business’? Would Google fire employees who staged a sit-in over anti-Semitism in the workplace?
Google broke their corporate ethics by allying with a military for a lucrative contract; employees SHOULD be calling them out on it.
Google PRIDES itself on progressivism and diversity. From transgender visibility to veganism. Google showered Ukrainian and Israeli employees with support and gave them a platform, but Palestinian supporters were left out. Say Ukrainians are dying and google will support you and even donate for you. Protest Google’s military contract that kills Palestinian civilians and violates the company ethics policies and you get fired?
This will blemish google’s reputation for a long time to come. IBM is still in the history books as helping the Nazis.
You’re not the target for either; they’re meant to milk business customers who don’t care about price.
Why is this published now as news when every one of these anecdotes was published over a decade ago? This story leaves out all the better juicy details.

Palestinian Shebab News Agency has facebook pages shut down
@Eye.on.palestine on IG suspended by Meta, then back up after a backlash.
#IStandWithPalestine and #FreePalestine getting censored by Facebook
Numerous actual popular accounts and news sources have been suspended. It was major news in the Arabic-speaking world in October. Meta even apologized for auto-translating Palestinian as “terrorist.”
It means that Palestinians living in West Bank and Gaza should be free from Israeli oppression and Palestinians living in Israel should be free from apartheid. It doesn’t mean kicking people out.
But Obama said he put safeguards in place!
Zoolander.
The airport clerk at the lost luggage counter. I’ve watched dozens of people run over to wait in line, then to shout at him when it’s their turn, their flight was cancelled or redirected without their bags, they’re going to sue his company and demand he reimburses their entire vacation, all before he even opens his mouth. And then the next person has the same story and they have to spill the entire thing out again.
The clerk looks tremendously beaten down, and just answers the customers with robotic answers, “please fill out the form, the airline will contact you within 24 hours. Please fill out the form, the airline will contact you within 24 hours.”
Great but there’s some frustrations. My instance appears overloaded and often voting or commenting fails. I’m also using alpha software so it’s unstable. And the communities are much tinier and quieter.
I’m sure in a few weeks there will be some big improvements. Early mastodon was like this too.
What benefit does hosting an instance do? Why not just add a new group to an existing instance?
It’s possible to write a web app that accesses Reddit APIs and loads comments and gives you an Apollo-style experience. You seem to be thinking of a web viewer app for the site, which isn’t the same as what I’m referring to. For example I’m using wefwef which is a good web app for mobile and desktop.
What do you mean; It’s VERY possible on iOS. Apple doesn’t restrict their web app APIs the way they restrict compiled binaries. Wefwef is a web app and a good one.
We also have to stop calling it hallucinations. The proper term in psychology for making stuff up like this is “Confabulations.”
