Exactly. It will lead to improved automation for industrial processes but it won't ever be a consumer tech other than improving your siri results.
It won't replace jobs, anymore than industrial robots in factories replace them.
'big data' 'crypto' etc.
AI is just the next 'big thing' that amounts to nothing. 90% of what anyone says in the press/media is total nonsense. And most AI researchers are downplaying the hype because they know it's all bullshit and AI will ultimately not be a major change anymore than navigation systems in cars was. It is merely convenience and those that 'rely' on it will end up in trouble.
It's a complementary technology, not a revolution.
I’m an IT professional but I find most IT communities to be full insufferable people and full of useless and irrelevant information on obscure systems and practices that don’t apply to the average IT job which is sys admining windows/linux/mac.
Would love a community that was chill and not full of people trying to one up one another about how amazing they are or how hardcore their lab is.
I mean AI is already generating lots of bullshit ‘reports’. Like you know, stuff that reports ‘news’ with zero skill. It’s glorified copy-pasting really.
If you think about how much language is rote, in like law and etc. Makes a lot of sense to use AI to auto generate it. But it’s not intelligence. It’s just creating a linguistic assembly line. And just like in a factory, it will require human review to for quality control.
facebook is too.
but anyone with half a brain has left or minimalized their interaction with the site. it’s a dinosaur of a site compared to where it was in the 2000s.
reddit will be the same in a few years. another dinosaur lumbering around, but doing nothing worthwhile for moving the internet forward or being a space for active and engaged users.
all Tinder cares about is keeping you swiping, with your eyes on the screen.
