Sounds like something a bigot would say.
Sounds like something a bigot would say.
A fish rots from the head. Corporate culture all flows from the CEO and board. If a bigoted piece of shit is in charge, this is what you get. Because the top of the company sets and enforces policy. So if they don’t care about bigotry or if they are bigoted themselves, they won’t set or enforce policies to stop it. They will hire bigoted management. Those bigots won’t stop it and probably encourage it. They hire bigoted workers who will persecute others and face no consequences. Those who anti-bigots can report but will be ignored or face retaliation.
Multiple times since 2016 it has hit home like never before: anything related to freedom and democracy has to be continually fought for. When we stop being vigilant (say from 1974-2015) those that seek money and power above all else chip away at everything until they get it.
Sounds a lot like me. That’s not communism, that’s just being a decent person. One that respects others and just wants everyone to live a good life without being the target of hate and harassment.
I’m definitely woke af. And proud of it.
I have come to think that when profits are at odds with health, happiness, the good of society and humanity, then either a non profit foundation needs to be running it or it needs to be in the hands of the government—but a much less corrupt one. And I believe oligopolies need to be broken up and anti trust laws greatly expanded and enforced. Then we can deal with the oligopoly / plutocracy. We set a maximum wage (including all earnings) and tax 100% above that. Penalties for regulatory breaches include jail time. For corporations. With corporations reigned in, oligopolies and oligarchies crumbled, we can prevent regulatory capture and corruption. Campaign finance is abolished and it is paid for out of public funds. We abolish first past the post voting in favor of scientifically determined better alternatives to ensure voters actually have a variety of choices.
Idk wtf that makes me except maybe a ranting lunatic lol
And while we are at it… novelists, poets, painters, musicians, philosophers, …
That’s not enshittification it is a normal progression of tech to make it useful for a wider audience. Otherwise we would be typing a byte at a time with front panel toggle switches like on a PDP-8.
I think that’s true of any technology that goes mainstream. New tech is evolved to where the end user doesn’t need to know how it works to use it.
Oof. Brings back the memories.
Though it was expensive, my Time Life 80s Music series (CD) was worth it and I still have em all. Thankfully, it wasn’t hard to cancel once I realized I was getting redundant stuff and they would never stop sending CDs as long as I kept paying.
Fellow Gen-X. I’m assuming they’re an ass and that’s about all I need to know.
Yeah where’s our antitrust enforcement?
The oligopoly thing has definitely been fucking everything up for decades.
True but the Mac G4, especially, was an absolute dream to work on. So I don’t agree they remained this way.
Also our brains are banned, too, since we use them to plan and take actions to infringe on IP.
It works a lot better when there are many choices, fair competition in the market, and the traits being voted on are painfully obvious.
Well… I bought an AMD card, I have been using Firefox for a few years now, and I’m not buying anything from Blizzard. There are literally dozens like me… Unfortunately, only a small number of people know these things and have these views and care enough to boycott. These companies will continue to do what they do until there is sufficient pushback (if ever) to make it less profitable than alternatives.
There really isn’t is there? I’m not aware of any compact version. But I feel like the design could be fairly easily fixed.
Yes thanks, my bad. I knew this but it was early. Appreciate the detailed clarification!
Kagi has been working out pretty ok for me. Quality of searches is good. No ads, no promoted listings; it is fee based.
It’s showing up on lemmy.one
Better late than never I guess?
Geez I just realized many people probably never lived to see this fixed… fuck. Now I’m sad and feeling extra mortal.
