steal bag
get notified on my phone that there’s a tracker in there
helps me disable the tracker
Thanks mega corps 👍
That doesn’t change the fact that it causes problems for openstreetmap
Heard a colleague be very positive about his Shokz so I thought I’d get some bone conducting headphones too, got the Phillips ones and I just can’t imagine they are the same quality because I’m not impressed. UX is super bad; buttons are hard to press and cause the contact points to move (which need to be pretty precise for me to be able to hear decently) so ok I just use the Bluetooth volume change. Also the volume of the voice announcer that says “low battery” every 15 seconds when you go below 20% battery is not relative to the devices current volume, so it just absolutely SCREAMS at you while you’re just chilling…. Would not recommend anyone with heart problems.
Because they rm -rf ed their server
On android, my PWA that I developed for fun can go full screen and appear as though a browser isn’t wrapping the page
That is literally how I am using kbin.social right now even though it’s just a website
I can send notifications, I can access the microphone and camera, I can do nearly everything you could expect an app to do
All of those are defined in the web spec as well so you wouldn’t need an app for that (if apple implemented all of them, not sure if they have)
I can support offline mode
Your cached web page can do that too (even though most web pages don’t because it’s not a common usecase)
I can store data locally
Cookies have existed for much longer than the iPhone
uninstall my app at an OS level.
A website added to your home page basically acts like an app: it has an icon on your home screen and you can longpress > delete it just like apps
Badges might be the only valid complaint (I don’t know if they are part of the web spec)
[Apple] is acting against the consumer.
Not sure how this is hurting the consumer. This has been announced many years ago and devs haven’t been able to publish new or update old web apps for ages, so this change only applies to those very old apps still on the appstore.
Yes because what they are doing is just removing websites from the app-store. Other app-stores might add those websites to their store if they want but for the user it is almost always better to just save the website to their homescreen, which gives the exact same UX as previous web-apps but now you don’t need to go to the app-store to download it, the app takes up no storage on your device and the web app can’t access your privacy sensitive device IDs that might be used for cross-app tracking.
They are not sabotaging “web apps” (aka websites), you just need to save the website to the homescreen if you want to use a web app, (this is both quicker and takes up less storage on your device so it is better for the end-user).
They are removing these “apps” from the appstore because they are not native apps.
There is also discord guilds for sharing cheats, which is very damaging to the massive fps games industry. If discord would be complicit why doesn’t valve or riot sue them?
Because of the technical skill required for pirating and the tech industry being mostly men currently.
He said steam deck, not steam. You can install games from all stores (eg gog) and any operating system you want on the deck
The hassle is “search Pirate Bay for the game > download it into your games folder” after initial setup of emulators using emudeck
Exact same game;
Switch: 30fps
Steam deck: 60fps
How is the switch superior?
A steam deck can run all the games those two can and it runs Linux which means it will probably never be obsolete
Install ollama and create an alias for ollama run <model>
for ease of access is what I did
Kernel level ac is a joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwzIq04vd0M
The repo at the link doesn’t really explain where the data is from, does anyone know?
No idea where to report this but this is the list I keep. Some already have reports I could find as far back as 2012.
default screenshot tool does not copy to clipboard (as soon as app closes(which is immediately after the screenshot is taken) the clipboard data is lost)
display scaling does not work (125% causes all fonts to be fuzzy)
alt tabbing does not work as expected (shift-tab should go back in the alt-tab menu but it does not (apparently only with SOME keyboars??? since 2012: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=294249))
while alt tabbing: every other screen disappears which makes me motion sick
while alt tabbing: clicking the screen you want to go to cancels the alt-tab and you land back to where you started ??? This one makes me unreasonably angry every time it happens.
almost every theme breaks krunner (background somehow shifts when hiding??)
default settings app is junkware
many apps show the wayland icon in task bar (every bugreport to kde is just replied with “yeah that’s the apps fault” but it works in gnome)
Stremio + ThePirateBay plug-in works great (allegedly)
