If something is sold as fully self driving, I would like to think it should be capable of fully self driving and not a feature that will drive me face first into a train.

Probably going to be what happened to Toys R Us where the company currently has value but private equity will pull out cash and anything not bolted down and load up what remains with extreme amounts of debt before abandoning what remains. The skeleton of a company that remains will be viewed as unviable as it will have large amounts of debt and no cash once the vultures have stripped everything off.
Except that is what China already does. Cloud providers with regions in China have to utilize a local partner company which gives access to the whole tech stack. It’s a reason that AWS China regions were always so far behind in service offerings to the rest of the AWS regions.
I would have thought the same thing but the after hours ticker has the stock up damn near $20 which is just insane to me.
No one here is bloodthirsty other than the country that invaded Ukraine and now wants to wipe out its people. We are just supposed to sit back and let it happen and let the Russians just keep picking random countries to destroy? No one is advocating for use of weapons of mass destruction but they are advocating for the defense of an independent country attempting to defend itself.
That is true but at the same time, a line has to be drawn somewhere. If we just let Russia win because they have nukes, there is nothing to stop them from invading and absorbing other neighbors. We can’t let the threat of nukes keep us from doing anything and allowing for Russia and China to just invade anywhere they want.
That was incredibly interesting to read. I don’t know anything about lasers but am now heading down the rabbit hole.
That was my thought, someone watched Star Trek and wanted to give it a go. I am always in favor of pursuing Star Trek tech so I hope this makes improvements.
The last time I saw someone ask this question, the general response was to start participating in new hobbies and meeting people. Considering that our time is typically already packed full if you try and eat healthy, have a job, go to the gym, hang out with friends there isn’t a whole lot of extra time for new hobbies and activities. That response always felt so empty like if I had that much free time I would have already been doing something fun with it. Dating apps seem to me like the only option to date outside your existing social circle. It’s a sign of the times and our lack of time.
So I’ve got a year to get everything I need running on Fedora. My only concern is Linux audio configs as I never have to use audio running servers.
At some point, the association with Musk has to negatively impact the brand and I wonder if a portion of these headwinds are related to that. The demographic for Teslas isn’t going to be Texas conservatives so the people Musk is directly against are the same people he wants to buy the cars. I have to imagine that like myself, some people who would have probably purchased a Tesla historically would not do so now. I was thinking about going electric and getting a Tesla but won’t be associated with Musk. It’s a single sample of 1 so obviously anecdotal but I can’t be the only person.
Anyone know what the throughout would look like on that? Would love to use it for SSDs if it’s fast or spinning disks if it could run at a reasonable rate.
My Win10 machine is an audio workstation (DAW) so I am curious how the migration to Linux will work out. Reaper has a Linux port so that should be OK. Hopefully all the VSTs will still work and I’ll have to check on my Focusrite Scarlett. I am not buying a new machine just to run this stuff as it’s just a hobby.
This could be a good move for everyone. It said TikTok has agreements with everyone else so many other artists will have the chance to get noticed now. The Universal artists are already well known and don’t really need more promotion anyways. This gives the smaller people a chance. Aight I’m off to learn an instrument, write a song, create a record label, and sign up for TikTok exposure. Wish me luck…how hard could it be.
Yeah like I feel that the headlines are missing the forest through the streets. If there is enough important information available about individuals that the NSA would find it useful and worth buying, we need to ensure that it’s stopped at the source and not available to anyone.
Thanks so much I had not been tracking this case but it pissed me off to no end when I heard that Vizio was refusing to uphold the GPL. They are more than happy to greatly benefit from the labors of open source development but the second they have to do the smallest step in support of the GPL, they fight it. I doubt there is anything overly interesting that they could release. My mind is assuming they don’t want anyone to see the actual level of their data gathering.
I feel the same way about modern music but I can’t tell if it’s the music or just me getting old.
I mean that’s probably the preferred path but I can’t see how that realistically happens. There are too many individuals globally with too much to lose that will think their loss of capital is worth bringing down the whole human race. I’m sure they would rather see the world in ashes rather than succeed under an alternate system where they may not be on top.
I had something similar on my laptop with encrypted volumes and duress passwords. So my documents folders were all on an encrypted volume and opened by the standard super hard password. The duress password was much easier and contained a skeleton structure to look legit. The idea was that if anyone brute forced the password it would just find the duress folder first and hopefully no one would look further. Seems like overkill but I was traveling to China for business so necessary. I did however use a burner phone as opposed to my real cell.
Could be good as a firewall with PFSense or something. 2.5gb to the ISP and a 10gb trunk port. Would be an upgrade for me. All I would use is a drive in it though.
