I have music or whatever it’s called now because I music and red together where the same price as just red. I still have it because I use YouTube more than streaming services like Netflix and don’t mind supporting creators I’m watching. I use some of the features of premium on the app on my phone and fire stick too which could be worked around but would be a hassle.
For a vast majority of people who mainly view YouTube as a free service I highly doubt they’d be willing to pay $7 a month let alone $14. A large portion of their viewer base is kids and they aren’t going to pay. Maybe if they add stickers or whatever TikTok is going nuts over as part of the monthly sub.
Maybe lazy rich people will want one so they don’t have to get off the plane or out of the car when traveling. Between a state or two.
I mean these sites aren’t going to implement anything like they want in these laws and few people are going to be up for using such a system. Yeah, they’re just going to throw up a block and remove liability. Then people who know will just VPN.
I could see the industry using some system that’s already built and free but not really develop one or take on more issues with personal information. Good luck with the government made browser extension that tracks your preferences though.
I do wonder how the subs get split. Like is it just a bonus based on general stats or stats of users paying?
For me I use the phone app and on a TV so not having to setup extra ad blocking nonsense is nice. I also watch it all the time and do want to support people making content. I’ve done the Patreon thing some and tried to bounce around who I was giving a few dollars to. More convenient if the YouTube sub just benefits the people I’m watching.
How might it be different from something like Citrix? Just an official way to do it? Maybe some integration with hosting?
Often time scammers put a few typos and whatnot into initial contact to weed out smarter people. Mainly if the scam is going to involve phone calls or something. Scams just trying to get passwords or infect your computer might try harder to look legit.
Look man people just love old shit. Museums are full of it.
Democrats get on board with shit like this all the time just more often over copyright or spying on people. You know real bipartisan effort stuff.
Although COPPA was introduced by a Democrat and signed into law by Clinton.
