Everyone has a unique identifier. If you don’t share that with anyone, how would they know who’s vote it is? Couldn’t the number be randomized and a new UUID provided on a routine basis?

Every American has a Social Security number, but it’s not exactly like we’re told to broadcast it to the world… I don’t see why something like that couldn’t be implemented here using technology.

My point is the general ledger technology of the blockchain which would be beneficial here.

But of course this is all a pipe dream. America is damn near a Kleptocracy and both political parties have written laws to prevent a third political party from ever arising.

I’d love to see that happen, But it’s because America won’t switch to a direct democracy. Instead we have a Kleptocracy run by corporations and the 1% who have power over both parties in America. However if it were possible to create a third political party where every member of the party earns only one vote maybe it would give people power back over corporations. But it’s a pipe dream, I know it’ll never happen.

I personally envision a future where we use blockchain technology to create a new direct democracy party in which every member has a unique identifier and the blockchain ledger system used to track polling data. Every individual member of the party would have one vote in each poll at ever level (federal, state, regional, etc) - for every single thing that gets a vote, and the elected politician representing that party would be required to vote based on the polling data.

Everyone would have access to a copy of the ledger to confirm their votes are counted accurately, and they can review polling data to confirm their elected politicians are voting based on polling data, and the representative would be replaced if they do not adhere to the results

Someone is totally going to turn this into a reprap 3D printer, and I’m absolutely here for it. I can’t wait to toss on a 1mm nozzle and start printing some massive 3D printed bog planters for my savage garden hahaha.

Hopefully the factory can find a good workaround for future revisions of the design. But gotta hand it to Prusa - they quickly respond when something needs be adjusted in the build. I remember the minor upgrades from the MK3s to the MK3s+ which seemed minor to some, but were huge for others (for me I see barely any difference in my farm, but hey I’m glad they made those changes if it increases the lifespan of the rails/bearings, etc).

Personally I’m keeping my printer farm running MK3S printers for now, I’m gonna let everyone continue beta-testing the MK4 for another year or two before I splurge on a few factory assembled machines for the farm.

Ahhh that takes me back to 2012, back when I was too poor to afford a $1000 Prusa Mendel 3D printer kit. So instead I tried to build my own printer from scratch using plans for an alternative RepRap printer (“Ecksbot”) and used a work’s Makerbot Replicator to 3D print parts for the printer.

Phew was that a mistake - I printed everything in ABS and the parts were extremely weak due to my poor skills at 3D printing at the time (RepetierG didn’t have the best slicing software lol). It was such a mess - the printer couldn’t really print correctly, the carriage for the extruder was loose. And it took me forever to figure out how to calibrate esteps because I was completely new to all of it and documentation was extremely limited back then.

After that failure I tried to build another kit printer (SeeMeCNC Rostock Max Delta 3D printer) only to give up calibrating the printer (dang injection-molded push rods had seams that needed to be precisely sanded down for smooth movements and a bunch of other headaches).

Ultimately I decided that unlike you, I loathe tinkering with 3D printers. I just want to design models and print them without any concern “will they print correctly”. So I splurged on a factory assembled Prusa MK3s and haven’t looked back.

Ahhh, see from my Zortrax printer I learned that PETG benefits from no enclosure - drafts are fine. It actually helps increase print quality. I run my Prusa Mk3s printers with no enclosure (since I only use them for mainly PETG and TPU, and occasionally PLA). I have Zortrax printers for my ABS, ABS/PolyCarbonate Blends, and HIPS plastics (but holy hell I hate the closed software on the Zortrax printers and their Zsuite slicing software - absolute garbage which cripples printers that cost thousands of dollars - I can’t even tweak temperature, fan speeds, flow rates, etc mid-print like literally every other printer I’ve handled over the past decade!).

That’s so strange, I have no problems printing PETG all the time. Like I said, I have different PEI sheets for my Prusa printers - smooth for PLA, textured and satin sheets for basically everything else. Honestly though I probably print PETG 95% of the time, I only use PLA plastic for prototyping because I have a lot of rolls just sitting around.

What are you cleaning the bed with? What kinda printer?

On my Prusa printers - different surfaces work better for different materials. For example PLA works great on smooth PEI surfaces. But PETG has trouble sticking - PETG works better on the textured or satin PEI sheets which have a more “grippy” surface for PETG (and TPU).

Pro tip from experience - when using textured build surfaces, be sure to increase first-layer nozzle temp an extra 5c to 10c - this helps the plastic really ooze into the crevices of the textured surface.

With my Satin PEI sheets on my Prusa printers, I just printed 4000 items for a wholesale partner on three different MK3s printers (all dialed in and running as intended) - roughly 3000 hours of print time. Not a single time did I have a part pop loose mid-print, and I still haven’t cleaned the surfaces in over a year. But I also don’t use any extra “adhesives” like hair-spray or glue-stick to increase adhesion. All I need to do is pop off the pieces of scrap plastic (like the 1-layer skirt and bleed line at the front of the build surface and print the next copy of the parts.

For sure. I have a micro homestead with a lot of chickens (dozens upon dozens lol) - we raise them for eggs, meat, and the manure (which we use to make awesome soil for the garden). We keep the coop extremely clean (like multiple times a month we clean it out), and we keep our chickens healthy (constantly treating for parasites, mites, worms, etc) so they live a happy healthy life.

Those eggs come out clean in the nests because we keep them clean as well. I personally would probably rinse it off right before cracking open just because it’s me, but yeah there’s no salmonella in our coop because we maintain sanitary conditions (probably way more than the average backyard chicken owner).

20 years ago, I had an insurance plan with AT&T. For $30 I could “replace” my phone under the insurance policy (once per year). Then the plan changed it was a refurbished phone not new… then eventually the insurance plan went to a surcharge of $200 to replace with a refurbished phone.

Back in the old days I simply upgraded every one or two years under the insurance plan. But that was the days before smartphones really took off.

These days I don’t have that insurance plan, and simply hold onto my phones as long as possible. I don’t get it either.

I have a Galaxy S9 that I’ve had for five years and it just won’t die on me. Not that I’m complaining, I honestly have no clue what I’ll buy next. But I don’t get the need to upgrade annually.

Wasn’t there a huge deal when they skipped from Win8.1 to Win10 - and they pinky promised that Windows10 was the last version of Windows, and they’d simply release major updates every so often? Pepperidge farm remembers.

I’ve been on facebook since it was still limited by domain names and it was a big deal when my campus was finally added to the list of approved email domains. I’ve watched it’s evolution over the years. Facebook is a shell of a website these days - almost nobody uses it compared to what it was ten years ago. I use it to keep in touch with some older family members and old friends, but for the most part nobody uses it or posts often. It’s all junk from different FB groups and an excessive amount of ads.

Yeah, someone else said that the other day on another discussion - we’re seeing the bubble bursting for social media. The VC money is drying up, so these websites with massive bloat and overhead suddenly need to come up with new ways to generate cash. So they turn to what they “think” works - charge the visitors for the privilege to use their website without ever considering that maybe people will simply migrate and go elsewhere, as they always have.

Just like when most people left Myspace, then left digg, then left twitter, and left facebook, and left reddit. There’s always stragglers that will keep the sites afloat. But they are a shell of the sites they once were.

Look at Facebook - back in 2005 it was an amazing site where all your friends were socially active and engaged. Now it’s a ghost town - out of hundreds of friends and family, I only see a few posts from friends/family and a ton of ads and posts from groups I follow.
