just my guess
can you recommend some of the websites that have those slightly larger versions? I would prefer if they are well organised like yts (multiple qualities/versions on the same page, cover pictures, ratings, good search…)
yts . mx
everything is organised great
no cam bullshit, everything is bluray or webrip
i think movies there are a bit compressed, but personally i dont even notice it
especially with opensource stuff, a lot of devs are either extreme right or extreme left. That doesn’t mean they can’t make a great project. Suckless is a good example for extreme right. Lemmy for extreme left.
why arch and not something with more stable updates like debian?
If you want something obscure barely anyone heard about try eComStation. Unfortunately you’ll have to pirate it, but its really easy to find.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed because i really like that its rolling release, new software and stable. Im using it as a main distro now. It has everything i need.

PC specs:
i5 7600
Nvidia Titan Xp (recently upgraded from AMD RX 580, solidworks worked the same)
28GB RAM
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed
Virtualbox
Virtualising Windows 10
SolidWorks 2018 (older versions worked fine too, i didn’t try new versions but i dont see why it wouldnt work)
Until recently i dual booted, theres not a big difference in performance.
I recommend putting both Linux and Windows on an SSD
Windows VM + SolidWorks for me, there is no other reasonable way unfortunately.
syncthing
Im trying to make myself use it but i usually forget it exists. I grew up using Windows XP and i still use every OS/DE like its XP.
Its a fun distro to play with but i wouldn’t use it for anything serious.
What do you use now?
I don’t understand how anyone can live without adblock
If you can, host your own file server to replace google drive. If not i guess mega.nz is ok.
ChromeOS can easily be replaced by linux. https://linuxmint.com/
There isn’t really a great alternative for gmail, so unless you will host your own email server i guess you can use tutanota.
I recommend you check out MentalOutlaw on YouTube.
Also the battery life is not great, but you can buy a bigger battery (i didn’t try it). For basic use it’s a great little laptop if you put an SSD in it.
