Ad Blocking is Cyber Security, never ever let anyone convince you differently

My impression is the thing with modern day ad tracking, selling information to spammers, and hackers is, even if you secure your browser tighter than a drum, any one of your browser extensions, which we’ve given permission to read all site data on every site you visit and interact with, could be keeping extensive logs on your activity and selling that away to the highest bidder. Am I understanding that right?

I'd suggest Mastodon to anyone looking for a new social media platform to join, but I can't suggest Lemmy/KBIN as they don't have legitimate blocking in place, as theirs is simply the same bullshit Reddit like "masking" where you can no longer see who you blocked, but they can still see, and reply to whatever it is you post, which of course is rife from abuse from the people you want to distance yourself the most from. Until there's legitimate, you no longer exist, blocking on Lemmy/KBIN I would suggest anyone else use them. (to say nothing of all the errors in KBIN from notifications, to blocking, to posting, to seeing comments, the list stretches endlessly)

VPN’s give people access to foreign nations without location blocking, where there is no way to get their content otherwise.

VPN’s allow pirates to download torrented media, without advertisements, to be enjoyed offline, which streaming doesn’t always do.

VPN’s are useful in keeping the ISP’s out of your business from snooping on all your websites that you visit, and all the traffic coming and going from your PC.

Ad Blocking is cyber security.

Anyone not using a paid VPN service is insane.
