  • Yeah over simplifying it a bit, and that’s funny that the stupid thing I found wasn’t even stupid enough.

But was mostly trying to impart that we should be happy for modern languages, because for every line you write in a modern language, it’ll do a dozen things on the back end for you that in assembly you’d need to do by hand.

  • ericbomb@lemmy.worldtoRetroGaming@lemmy.worldHow hard could it be?

To send the point home even more, this is how in python you make a line of text display:

    print("Hello World")

This is the same thing, in assembly (According to a blog I found. I can’t read this. I am not build better.)

org 0x100 ; .com files always start 256 bytes into the segment

; int 21h is going to want...

mov dx, msg ; the address of or message in dx
        mov ah, 9 ; ah=9 - "print string" sub-function
int 0x21 ; call dos services

        mov ah, 0x4c ; "terminate program" sub-function
int 0x21 ; call dos services

        msg db 'Hello, World!', 0x0d, 0x0a, '$' ; $-terminated message

But python turns that cute little line up top, into that mess at the bottom.

I like python. Python is cute. Anyone can read python.

  • Ooh watched an AutoPulse one!

AutoPulse looks almost Star Trek. Very sleek and usable. It looks so unassuming when they pull it out, then it makes that chest COMPRESS. I’m aware that you have to press hard enough to get the ribcage moving, but I was not prepared for such an unassuming device to have that much force. I can see them slipping a vest onto someone in star trek that pumps their heart and helps carry them to sick bay.

Lucas is more star wars. It looks like a rib cracker.

So I think I’d prefer an auto pulse XD

  • Haha oh yeah and I was in character responding to your fake useless doctor.

The things lazy doctors always wanna blame: Weight Pregnancy Period Smoking Lack of sleep Stress

The last one is fun, because how do you argue you’re not stressed? I can prove I’m not the other ones. But I’m here for the 4th time this year, I spent all last weekend vomiting after following the laid out diet perfectly, yes, yes I’m stressed!

  • You’re so right and never thought of it like that! If you Google and find a new service you’ve never heard of, we’re expected to give up our soul in a heartbeat! Even for a new email so many are like: First name Last name Phone number for dual authentication Install this app for dual auth Birthdate!

Like dude, there are a lot of services that just that information alone is enough to call in and take my account. It’s so scary how common that is.

A game I play uses PayPal as the payment processor, and pay pal decided to pay this specific company I had to upload the front and back of my ID.

    Just… ugh.
