Money isn’t necessarily a factor. I’ve paid for many services that have made business or operating changes to the point of needing to separate and then there’s WinZip on the other side of things.

On the internet, no one knows you’re a dog. Except for Meta, Alphabet, Russia, China, Israel, the NSA and your ISP. But no one else knows
Sorry, I didn’t mean to leave out the bestiality porn creation as well. That was unintentional on my part.
Maybe AI can help us break the fusion hurdles. Oh. It’s still telling people to eat rocks, just used to create waifu porn and as a mass spy application? Nothing else, really? Well shit.
I do not know if the setting is an Entra setting, I don’t have access. I’m just friendly with IT. This is what I believe they were talking about given their description. But not tracking, no. It’s basically a here/not here situation. You’re either tethered to local networking or not.
It’s not just a self reporting feature it seems. Our IT accidentally turned it on (as I understand) for a day by adding building info to one of the supervisors account. It then showed if you were in the same location (building) than your supervisor.
It can be turned on by the IT dept in a large office. It has a different icon for in office network connection vs not. Not every IT dept uses it. Some treat other employees like adults, for instance.
I can’t figure out the objection to this either. I see it as a huge step forward for tinkering and tinkerers.
Yeah, and like I’ve got DNS through PiHole on the same machine as HA. That particular machine doesn’t always want to come back up after power failure. And I hate going to the basement except to do laundry or bury the bodies. Having constant uptime is just useful.
At the same time, you’ve got a baked in UPS. I’m not sure what the normal power refresh cycle is on them compared to a laptop battery but it seems like it might be negligible?
This is it. It’s why seats/stools look nice but feel uncomfortable after 20 or so minutes.
At home, I use PiHole and AdGuard to block ads. I also use Firefox on my desktop with ublock origin plugin. Sites do break sometimes. But here’s my thinking. If a site is using or forcing an ad in such a way that the site is broken for me, I go to another site. That one didn’t deserve my time or business. My bank website works just fine. So does the power company, gas, etc. The important stuff is fine. The rest has competition.
I will note that my auto insurance website broke between an email link, the trackers in said link and the website. I messaged their IT dept in a complaint form and they said they would change how the email system tracker works to prevent that in the future.
I’ve been pretty excited about what I’ve been seeing from Affinity. You’re right, they’re not there yet. But they’re closer than anyone. They need more money and time and they will hopefully get there.
I want to point out, because I see this chart or something like it a lot. Adobe has an absolute monopoly in the professional design space. None of these programs can remotely come close to the creative suite if you’re doing more than tinkering. If you’re making memes or doing some personal image manipulation, you can get by with GIMP or something. If you’re creating professional art or creating files for print or publication, you need Adobe. It’s scary that one corporation holds so much sway over an entire industry but they definitely do.
Too fucking late. I’ve already installed Bluefin on two machines and Bazzite on my gaming machine. I’m not going back.
Eh, I’ll take it though. I live in a fairly quiet part of town but the street has gotten pretty busy in the last could of years. And visually, I guess the street seems to open up making drivers get… spicy now and then. The fucking motorcycles, man. These noisy fucking middle-aged infants making 130 decibels while only going 15mph make me see red. I’d gladly take the lawn equipment noise.
My Unraid NAS and media server is called Madmartigan. The Proxmox server running Home Assistant, second Pihole instance and my bookmark manager and such is called Willow. My raspberry pi that I use for testing and such is called Brownie.
I use tdarr on my gaming machine and use the higher end GPU to do the work. I also use the trash guide for getting the audio profile I want in my downloads. Then in tdarr, I strip away audio and subtitle languages I don’t want and use the highest quality audio source to add a simple 2 channel audio to make it more compatible for more devices. That way I’m not needlessly transcoding 5.1 Dolby for people who are just watching on TV audio.
How many of those posts are about a stick?
I love this idea of billionaires making bunkers. Pretty sure I can afford the quikrete and wheelbarrows needed to make this a better world.
