4 months agoGreat question! Key differences:
- NoPeek detects BOTH smart glasses AND VR headsets (Quest, Vision Pro, Pico, Vive, PSVR etc)
- Background scanning via foreground service — works when app is closed
- Distance estimation (~2m ~5m ~10m)
- Detection history saved locally
- Configurable RSSI threshold and notification cooldown
- Smart device grouping
- Sound alarm on detection
Nearby Glasses is great and inspired some of our detection approach — NoPeek builds on it with more devices and more features.

Yes it does! 🎉 Here’s how it works:
Tap “Run in background” button in the app. You’ll see a persistent notification saying “VR Shield — Background Scan”.
If a smart glass or VR headset is detected you’ll get:
Tap the notification to open the app and see full details.
To stop: tap “Stop background” in the app or tap Stop in the notification.
APK now available if you want to try it: github.com/getnopeek/nopeek-android/releases
