  • Not an issue when you pirate 🤔

100% capitalism is part of the blame, why isnt there a public option for music? Promoting local artists that are in the public domain and can tour and make a living in public venues. Instead we have ticket master and other such big music. Companies, now this is applied to music but really can be applied to every sector.

Elect local politicians who can make change for the people on the local level.

Hey very valid statement and salute to you.

Personally, I believe this ultimately hurts and affects customers like yourself. Because YT is spending all of this additional effort to effect and crowdout, if looked at a very tiny percentage. Instead of investing into platform improvements for visitors and creators.

YT should of focused on competition which is every other streaming service. If they provided shows still using network ads breaks, instead of these psycho every 4min you 2.5mins of ads unless you pay is just extortion. Plus they aren’t really sharing revenue with creators… sigh

  • As reddit refugee the biggest plus of lemmy is the ease in which it feels. Almost like visiting Canada from the States… But the longer you stay the difference are clearer.

Ive had to change my habits, I was a lurker on reddit and realize abunch of lurkers moved over and are just looking for traction ans information. I now receive just about all of the news I was learning from reddit and the last push is engagement.

The other added bonus is commenting here is not commenting on reddit. Ppl are interested in a dialogue even if they disagree with your point. This will be what saves lemmy.

  • Well, start with what you have, and let that guide your needs.

I started on my own windows xp machine. Before moving to a nas for image storage. Now, I have nextcloud running on a separate machine. With Arch documentation is very good where most services will be turn key. Especially if you don’t mind downtime. The best thing is get to know your setup. As that will be uniquely your setup, and let that guide your journey into madness 😄
