Surprisingly I was just looking and there are a ton of active mods still in development. Pretty cool.

Yes!
This reminds me of how upset I was to break my Battlefront CD when I was younger. One of those games you had to enter the CD for to start. Needless to say, that was what started my torrent and crack experience.
Such a great game. The mods and third party maps were awesome. No edition after the first ever lived up to that, especially this new crap they came out with.
Yea, existing extensions get things wrong sometimes. I’m sure this will be the same - especially if sites start changing things to temporarily circumvent. Needs to be an easy way to grab the real URL just in case.
My plex server is the best streaming experience I ever had. Only stopped running it because I just wasn’t watching anything for a good bit. More time on my hands now, so time for a revival.
I wish people (especially just regular ol’ people, not big names) realized that if they started using Mastodon or BlueSky their engagement would go up tremendously. I’ve had full blown huge threads with all sorts of people on both platforms, even when I had literally just made my account.
On Twitter you’re lucky to even get a like on a post unless it’s some hot take on a political topic.
Yep. I could see people sticking around if there were not viable alternatives. And while those alternatives have indeed been around for a good while, they are very available now. There’s really no excuse now.
Now, while I do think Mastodon is the better platform, I’m curious to see how BlueSky affects Twitter’s user base once it comes out of its “beta”. For all of its faults, it does have the smallest learning curve - if really any at all - when comparing it to Twitter.
We don’t throttle to our company-owned Speedtest servers though so we can disprove you when claiming we are not offering you peak speeds.
Is it a debit card? Otherwise what stops you from switching?
I actually have a BOA credit card too for the same reasons though.
Oh wow, I’m glad to see there’s other people who are reminded of Plasma by Win 11. As someone who never installed or used it the first time I saw someone using it I made a comment about them using Linux. Until I realized…
Do you mean APY? Even if, none of the major banks have offer the best APYs. Yea, a local credit union probably doesn’t either (usually the online-only banks) but regardless.
Not to mention the big banks are going to take money from you for things like transfers, monthly fees, etc.
Absolutely. I have no problem displaying a few ads with my content if it results in better content. If it’s done responsibly, which it never is. Instead, it’s always an abusive relationship.
The only gripe I have about this is that third party browsers on MacOS don’t support Passkey. If you use Safari it’s absolutely wonderful, but…safari.
Still though, it isn’t incredibly difficult to just go into Settings to get passwords, but it’s still a pain.
I can second this. The only issue out of the box from my experience was getting speeds over 100Mbps working over WiFi, takes a bit of configuring (at least it did for my router).
Another thing that I like is considering not what I can do to “change my life in a year” but “what can I do tomorrow to improve my life even a little bit right now?”
Instead of getting caught up on larger things that might take years to achieve, if I consider something I can change right now that will make tomorrow a better day, those changes will add up much more quickly and noticeably.
Even if I can’t think of something, that’s fine. I can accept that, and just move on to the next day. The important thing is to ask myself this every day, so that I can give myself the option of making that change and having that reflection.
I have a separate account now for meme communities. I enjoy memes, but gotta be a way to filter them out better without blocking the communities.
Yea you can filter by subscribed but then you also miss new content or communities you don’t know about yet.
Best solution I’ve found is to block all of that on the main account and just switch over to another account if you feel like seeing the memes.
what was it for?
The world may never know 😔
The sad part is that option probably gives some people the impression like “oh Facebook can’t track me now”. Even though they were pretty annoyed by it I’m sure, they are one of a handful of companies that absolutely does not need your device’s tracking token to still track you.
Just as an aside, donating does not have to be monetary. Helping (if possible) with development, triaging issues or helping with support/forums of any kind, along with in general filing good issues goes miles for FOSS projects, especially larger ones with only a few developers.
