The bullshit the company spins is just as, if not more, important than the raw numbers. Especially when companies only report mandated info and the raw numbers they’re referencing aren’t disclosed for comparison.
Statistics is the art of making up a narrative you want to show via numbers, and finding a way to say it exists regardless of reality.
Shareholders are dumb panicky creatures. As long as the numbers aren’t terrible and you say some nice things most of them take it as gospel.

Subscription info is definitely part of the information provided to investors. The raw numbers may not be in the financial documents, but revenue from subscriptions most definitely is and will give a general idea of changes even if the company doesn’t give the numbers directly.
You’re talking internal accountability. That doesn’t apply at this scale.
The accountability here is to shareholders. And they don’t care about why, just quarterly profits and growth.
Large Shareholders some care about how the line goes up, just that it does. Constantly. Every quarter.
I switched from Nvidia to AMD back when the 9070XT came out and none of that was necessary with my Windows 11 system. I just swapped the card, uninstalled the Nvidia stuff and installed the AMD drivers. Haven’t had an issue.

Notably Epic charges less than 30% (something like 12% IIRC) to try to get more of that market. They even give away games. But their app is still inferior so it gets less use.
That’s because they make an insane amount of money by taking 30% of every sale on their platform, which nearly everyone uses because they’re a near monopoly and the alternatives are terrible. Around $3.5 Million per employee, nearly 5x the next highest company, which is Facebook at around $780,000 per employee.
It will definitely burst, and might take out some fairly large companies with it. Potentially even one or two tech companies that have been around for decades depending on how large it gets before that burst. One or two companies will end up with the IP all of them are “building” and it will fizzle into the background of daily use just like the previous assistants like Alexa, Cortana, etc. have.
