I’ve been asking why cars don’t have more obvious visual indicators since I was like 8 years old.

It’s pretty weird that we’re basically just working with 2 sets of lights and blinkers at this point.

For AV’s specifically, a pretty significant/obvious missed feature is some indicator that the car “sees” you. Pedestrians make eye contact with drivers to check if crossing is safe. How is there no equivalent for AV’s??? It’s such an obvious miss.

Sure, some people make art for art’s sake. But it doesn’t put food on the table. Like it or not, most popular media is created at least in part as a source of income for the creator.

It’s fine to pirate things if you actually can’t/wouldn’t otherwise engage with the media. But at least be honest with yourself and recognize that you’re stealing income from the creator.

As a different take, I think it’s just an un-fun mechanic that infects an increasing number of what I’d otherwise consider “good” games.

Because the (broad-stroke) economics of it mean that only 1/100 people actually need to engage with loot boxes for the company to see a profit, they’re incentivized to shove that shit in all of our faces constantly even if most of us hate it.

So, “we all have to miss out” is a huge mischaracterization of how I’d react to loot boxes being banned.
