I don’t understand why people systematically downvote content in this community.

I know some people hate anything related to AI, but why come here to downvote instead of just ignoring or blocking the community? That’s what I do with topics I don’t care about.

These icons fascinated me as a kid. That was the first time I realized that there were “more programs” than the ones I had in my computer. The computing world looked so huge!

I choose sdf because it has typically been neutral on those regards. Let users choose whether they want to block whole instances or not. Federation is literally the word that gives meaning to fediverse, I don’t agree with the arguments who want to make the fediverse an “alternative” internet isolated from the rest.

You are right with the issues you mention, but keep in mind that sdf is not a for-profit service and is therefore maintained as such. It is a huge operation keep afloat by a few people. I have had an account there for more than a decade and there are always issues with the different services, so if you want to follow a server that has nearly no downtime you will need to find some other place. Sorry about that.
