What does it mean to “open up” an operating system in this context? Do they mean something like the possibility to intall other OSes on their devices, or that the app stores needs to be more open? I’m guessing it does not mean they have to start open source:ing parts of the OS… or?
Installed ubuntu on an rpi and firefox there ran snap. Was not very usable. Everything was so slow. Forcing an install of the dep package was the only way to use it. Not very well thought through bu cannonical.
How do you spell ed
with five letters? smh
Looks like it, yeah! Thanks!
Don’t know the name… It was on DOS, exploring a castle or something, your character was the spade character from cards, and in one of the first rooms you find a… helmet, or was it sheild?
Which part of this is gomuks?
Do you dd the device directly, and while it is running for this?
So you get to leave as soon as you are done? Do the others not get to do that?
I’d say this happens everywhere, with some exceptions maybe. Like I used to be in academia, it’s generally a stressful environment since you are 100% responsibe for everything. There is freedom in that too, but stressful.
Now I work in an office. There are some that take any chance they get to relax for a bit, socialize, snd so on. I don’t, I go there to work. I’m a bit introvert, so I don’t socialize much, but I put in some effort not to appear antisocial, but that is it.
I like my work, as in the tasks I do give me some satisfaction. I do it for me. I don’t socialize or relax at work because I happen to perfer the tasks. I know I’m lucky here, a lot of people do not get to work jobs like this. My collegues probably do not think the same way about their jobs, and I don’t blame them.
What I don’t get with what you are saying is the following. If everyone is “slacking off”, you get to do your work. I suppose you are not in a position where doing the tasks are satisfying enough to you, and that is why you’d want the others to do the tasks as well. But if you don’t get that satisfaction from doing the tasks, don’t you sympathize with your coworkers? They too probably do not get the satisfaction they’d prefer from the job alone, just like you? The difference between you and them is maybe then in the desire to socialize at work.
If you, unlike them, do not have any way of getting some base level of satisfaction at work, by the tasks alone or by some other means, and instead start resenting them for trying to get that satisfaction, then if you have to opportunity to change your line of work may help. People will probably still be the same, but maybe you won’t resent them?
I had two interactions with the same type of realization as a kid.
One of them was the tough and sort of school bully, who one day during the days of yule preparation at school went up to me and tried to probe me on how difficult making candles was because it was gonna be his turn soon.
The second one is more similar to yours. Summer camp thing. One guy I was in the same class as in school was playing tough during the camp. Did not interact a lot with him then, just noticed it, like he did not need a teddy or stuff like the other kids brought. Then we are back at school, after camp, he is not back. I hear from somewhere that he got severly home sick during camp, and had a hard time processing it. Later he did show up to school again, with his mom dropping him off. It was horrible. She tried to leave and he just cried and screamed. I think they tried it a few times more, but he just sat in a corner crying. A year or so later I see him back at school again, retaking that year.
Which parts are OpenTelemetry for? Is Prometheus Agent, Prometheus Server and Grafana not enough?
bring down the average temp by ~10 to 15c.
Your cpu temp is at 15C? Is your room very cold, otherwise will you not have problems with condensation?
Edit: nvm, you mean 10-15c, I just read it wrong in my head.
Windows 98SE for me too. I wanted to escape XP hell, so I stayed on 98SE until 2005 when I switched to linux.
My bank blocked “firefox” at some point on debian. Then it was because the version of firefox presented it self to be too old (because debian) to the bank so they blocked me. Firefox was up to date on security pathes, but the bank did not understand that and blocked.
Wow, that is so dumb. I saw some crack pot dude trying to solve unsolved physics problems by using prompts like “imagine you are Einstein, then how would you solve: …”. Good to see he is not alone, but has Bill fucking Gates with similarly dumb AI takes.
Never liked vlc. Only used mpv and mplayer before that. A few times I had some problems with mpv and forumposts have insisted “just use vlc”, and it never helped. First time I installed it for such troubleshooting I noticed there was no manual, just a mile long help print. I just uninstalled it right there, that time.
This! A nice additional detail is that the expansion is accellerated, so there will be some interesting things happening when the relative strength of the fundamental forces start competing with the expansion.
well “saata” is closer to the pronounciation of satan in finnish, “saatana”. Was it Linus you’ve heard?
I have noticed this too, I have to press the ‘back’ button on the remote to get the computer output.
