Guess I’m a low-value client.
I might do so as well to avoid the next decade of shopping around.
I know there are other factors it just feels like the only people getting screwed are the little guys. In Canada the rates that third party ISPs pay and charge are dictated by the giant telcos. Our regulating body even allowed the telcos to raise prices to the point where reselling is no longer viable. Fucking the little guys again.
Docker kinda does it by being like an app store but for servers. It’s not very flexible but everyone using a particular image gets the same experience.
Customizing all-in-one distros is a shitty uphill battle that isn’t worth the trouble, so I get how Arch is worth the work there. But recommending a kit car when people are asking for a commuter just bugs me.
Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I don’t want to use a kit/show car for commuting.
Arch, I want to get some work done not save 3 extra CPU cycles on boot.
I was with Google Domains but switched to Namecheap. They are easy enough to work with and not the most expensive.
Company I’m at runs Windows server. Kill me.
Average users view the web raw, this will go totally unnoticed by >90% of users. If web-drm becomes a thing then it will be easy enough to block those sites and add them to the list of media that is morally acceptable to pirate.
Who needs fuses anyway.
I moved from Vegas to kden and while not painless I am not missing any features. Would recommend!
Type the first 8 chars and see if you can still log in?
I originally switched out of privacy concerns, not that MS or someone else was stealing my personal data and work directly but that it would just inadvertently get leaked with some massive cloud fuckup as seems to happen regularly.
Since then I prefer it just because I can run it on decades old hardware, it’s consistent between different versions of the same Distro (W7 through to W11 gives me anxiety), and I don’t have to worry about a hardware change invalidating a product key so I have to re-buy my damned OS. Shit, yeah, it’s an ideological thing.
Running Zoneminder so my GF can keep an eye on her shop from her phone (without paying someone a subscription).
cries in pipwire and unsupported TigerLake HW
Holy shit, SEO has destroyed quick troubleshooting.
I repurposed my 2008 ThinkPad as a server, saving it from the trash for yet another year!
https://www.slax.org/ It’s easy, is a full featured desktop, and has persistence on your USB stick.
