The point is that the post title was false (or intentionally very misleading, if you insist on creatively parsing it). Accuracy in post titles is important.

The article itself proves you wrong on this one, my friend. The situation is less simple and more subtle than you’re claiming.
Of course ego is a factor. That’s true for every organization in the world. But there are many other highly relevant factors in play here.
Certainly some are. How many is an entertaining question.
This is too simplistic, isn’t it? At work maybe we have no choice. My AdBlock is still working on YT. So I don’t need to bail on Chrome yet. (I did, but I didn’t need to.)
What happens as the ad blockers get worse, as Google disables more and more functionality? This will be the fun time. It’s not hard to switch browsers, after all. And people know this. So of course they don’t worry about it.
We talk about it as a hive mind, but I think it is actually a problem of large numbers of users and an algorithm that needs tweaking, plus some shady mods.
You post but you’re too late, or you have a legit opinion that needs a few sub comments, but it’s too late.
Or you get trolled, you respond in a similar vein, and the mod bans you but not them, because the mod likes their opinion more. And I don’t blame mods for being soft in general, because it is a shit job. But sometimes it’s frustrating.
Who is “we”? Many of us go to lengths to point out how important historical figures had dark aspects to their lives. This actually makes history far more interesting and relevant.
The garbage is taking itself out
You definitely want to look at the economics and see if there’s some way to do a mini split. It will save you a lot on electric, and depending on the climate you’re in, it could pay for itself by February.
I used to live in a big city and was bicycling or bussing a lot. When my apartment lease ran out, I was able to find a place where I could walk most of the time. That was great for several years. Of course it depended on the specific location.
Another thing is owning less. If you own things that you don’t use at least once a year, maybe get rid of them. It’s easier to clean, to move, to organize, to find things. Of course this also depends on preference. Regardless, owning things has its own mental and financial costs, so find an amount that is good for you.
Getting rid of a TV made my life better. Similarly, getting rid of a microwave. But the latter depends on your cooking habits. For example, my work has a microwave, so I heat food up there regularly, and at home I cook things.
I don’t think “bald” is the right expression. You have a shaved head, which is different, right?
Also, shaved heads can go with most kinds of fashion. Your hair is always perfect, no matter the wind or rain.
Finally, if you got self esteem only because of compliments on your hair, now is the perfect time in life to find other ways to love yourself. Deeper ways. :-)
You didn’t tell us what you think the usual 9 to 5 pays. Are you asking whether a tech job pays more than minimum wage? Many of them do. Also, when you’re interviewing, and even when you’re writing a cover letter, try to avoid the term power user, and instead provide details of things that you’ve actually done. Anyone can call themselves a power user, but what does that even mean? If you say you’re a power user, if you’re lucky the interviewer will ask you for details, and if you’re unlucky they won’t, because they’ll assume you’re just grandstanding. So you’re better off providing a little extra information up front, and not gambling on them asking for it.
So why let the billionaire control them? If the resources are actually used for everyone’s good, maybe they should be public resources on paper.
Or perhaps your mistaken and those resources aren’t used for as much good as you believe they are.
Rich people and cops breaking the law.
The alternatives are around now, and we know that many YouTube content creators are exploring other revenue streams, so it’ll be interesting to see how exodus works. Clearly YouTube is going to continue to get worse and some people are going to leave. What’s next? I’m excited.
It’s always interesting to watch companies implode. Apparently Reddit is blocking non-Google search engines from indexing them, and Twitter wants you to be logged in to view people’s profiles. Those types of moves guarantee that the platform won’t be relevant a decade from now and possibly sooner than that.
Unsurprisingly, people define words in many different ways. What’s your definition? We can’t tell you how you should be categorized until you tell us what you think the words mean.
And I don’t mean that in a snarky way. For example, some people use the words liberal and leftist synonymously. Many other people don’t. And there are many other similar examples involving any kind of political terminology. It really does come down to a question of definitions, which is why it’s so easy to have miscommunication on political issues, on top of the fact that people have varying opinions on the issues themselves.
Except there are tons of alternatives that actually work. I watch plenty of YT videos with paid sponsors and if it’s done well, I don’t skip the sections because they are interesting.
What people dislike is obnoxious advertising, not advertising per se. Unfortunately, most advertising is obnoxious.
In other words, reality has already shown us what is possible. But it would probably reduce certain types of ad revenue, and big ad companies (i.e., Google) don’t like that.
It’s very important to be precise. Depending what country you’re in, there could be full professors, assistant professors, associate professors, instructors, and other positions. Some of those positions might be well paid, but it’s a safe bet that some of the others are not. So if you’re looking at one full professor’s salary and thinking that most other people with the word professor in their name make the same salary, depending what country you live in, you would be mistaken.
Actually wait a second, that’s true in every country.
Windows 98. In the meantime I’ve also used BSD, though not in a few decades.
Your question is a little too narrow for my tastes. Some of the best cheap purchases that I’ve made are things that I still have now. They haven’t worn out or broken or become useless.
In 2001 I bought a new cast iron fry pan for $20 that I use on regular basis and it’s marvelous. Around the same time, I bought some used silverware from a thrift store and I still use that everyday.
Two other purchases that go back more than 20 years are my pocket knife and my 1/4 inch hex driver, both of which I bought new but were not particularly expensive and they are working wonderfully to this very day.
Lots of options available. YT is slowly cracking down on them. That’s OK, just keep your medium run media consumption plans flexible.
