Especially if that’s food that’s going to negatively impact your own health, like junk food.

There are a few types of people that get targeted based on a voter profile, if my tiny amount of phone banking experience matches. There are the people who are probably going to vote for your party, but need a reminder because they are disengaged. Then there are swing voters that actually are on the fence and use a little information about your candidate. Like, most people don’t know much about Biden’s infrastructure package, so list off some projects nearby.

Those 61 prisoners were prosecuted under state law, which the president cannot pardon or commute. It is part of the reason that the business record investigation against Trump has outsized consequences. It was done at the state level, so even if he is reelected there is no question of him pardoning himself.

Likewise with Cop City, it is funded by the Atlanta City Council and private entities. The federal government is not involved from what I can tell.

I used OkCupid for some dates before I found my now husband. It took quite a few dates on my side, but I just considered that par for the course. For him, I was his first date on OkCupid. For that matter, I was the first man that he dated, though he had dated a girl in high school.

Unfortunately, in the decade since we’ve met, I think both straight and gay oriented dating apps have probably taken a turn for the worse. We both had extensive, descriptive profiles and talked for a long time before meeting up. I keep hearing that the gay apps have turned into mostly hookup apps, but I can’t speak for straight apps.

I tried Debian/Herd on a spare box. I think that lasted for what, a week? It was a less than complete experience, so I moved on to more fruitful experiments.

This is so hard to answer because so many of these things you don’t miss it until it’s gone. I’m going to say physical keyboards. Like, not that physical keyboards will disappear entirely, but I think they will continue to get much, much less common. I think a lot of people will miss the tactile advantage of a good keyboard, though.

One thing I think we’re in for a rebound on is how we deal with batteries. Currently, the paradigm for many devices is that manufacturers put a rechargeable battery in and that’s it. When the battery wears down or breaks, the device is done too. This can’t go on forever. It’s creating too much e-waste, expense, and pollution.

I think the deal that customers are getting from streaming services is probably too good to last, in general. It’s already starting to degrade, with companies all going to start their own streaming platforms with smaller and smaller catalogs. You have to really plan for what you want to see. The rise of exclusive shows really damaged things. Vertical integration like that hurts competition.

Replace the Pop! Shop with the COSMIC Store.

Pop Shop is kinda slow. COSMIC Store is part of Pop OS’s new COSMIC Desktop Environment (DE). Everything is just a lot faster. It’s an alpha so there are a couple of rough edges, but it’s great overall.

Speaking of, get hyped for COSMIC. It’s a DE written in Rust. It’s not quite as complete as GNOME, but hopefully it will have better performance than the current GNOME mod that forms Pop’s UI.

Bold words to describe a user friendly metaphor.

Some GUI package applications use the store metaphor. Pop! OS uses Pop Shop currently and will use COSMIC Store in 24.04 without transactions being involved.

I’m curious where COSMIC will land. It takes the previous iteration of Pop!, which used a lot of extensions on top of GNOME, and instead uses Rust as its main implementation language. So far, its applications have seemed very snappy, but that of course doesn’t mean that they are light on the RAM usage when it comes to a 2GB computer.

Along those same lines, the Lapce IDE is fairly lightweight. It’s no vim, but it is a very good GUI. I am running it on my 10 year old laptop, 8 GB, and it is noticeably more performant than VS Code on a new computer.

In the same vein, a Kinesis Advantage keyboard. I bought my first one fifteen years ago and now have two more. As a software developer, I do a lot of typing. It took some time to get used to the unusual form, but it was worth it.

I heard an interesting grand theory of conspiracy theories. Many people want the world to be well ordered and easily understood in black and white. Alas, the real world is chaotic, unpredictable, and confusing. To bridge that gap, they reach for religion, conspiracy theories, or both. Can’t comprehend evolution? The seven day creation story is nice, neat, and simple. Incredulous that humans could develop the technology to get to the moon? Clearly it is a clever Hollywood director.

The opposite, they are three quart bowls with rounded bottoms. That makes it so that food doesn’t get trapped in the corners like you would get with steep walls. The medium bowls have walls that are basically straight, which is space efficient for prep.
