He already had a circlejerk with another poster talking about how China can do it in days (because no osha, you know), and then! said it could also be done more inexpensively by reusing the steel from the collapsed bridge, that, you know, is structurally compromised by the collapse and I can’t imagine the water it’s submerged in is good for its integrity either
Ahh, perfect, thanks, I genuinely appreciate it. I should have done that myself, shouldn’t I?
Hm, digital downloads count as physical media? I might? be able to see the merit in that classification but I’m not entirely convinced.
I want to know what “other” is that is also clobbering CDs. Can’t say it’s streaming because it’s physical media. The article mentions that half a million cassettes were sold, but that doesn’t really answer the question. That “other” takes up a lot of space relative to CDs so I’m pretty curious.
I deleted my Reddit account and have not gone back. That said, I’m not particularly fond of Lemmy either. I’ve found… maybe? two communities here of interest that may have migrated from Reddit and they aren’t even active; and even as a socialist, the politics are tiresome and pervasive.
Aside from fascists getting the smacking around that they deserve, the one thing that’s nice is that there are far fewer cringey “yay lemmy is the best isn’t it guys” circlejerk posts now than there were back then. I don’t spend nearly as much time on here as I did on Reddit, so that’s a plus.

There are a few webcomics out there that have some excellent artwork. Lackadaisy is the first to come to mind, though updates have always been verrrry sporadic—especially now that she’s working on an animated version—and there was one called The Abominable Charles Christopher that was fucking phenomenal, but it just sorta… stopped. I’m still subscribed to the RSS because I’m holding out hope, but I know it’s over.
“Communes”, populated by “commies”?
I’m not old enough to have published zines but I am old enough to know what they were, and I think it is actually a pretty apt name for it
Psh, nice shameless plug for your community bro
…to which I’ll subscribe as soon as I can
I’m honestly shocked at how soon the sapient insects displaced humanity and subjugated what remained. Here’s a hint: the second digit in the year I visited is still a zero
I’ve always wondered about the health of the Pokémon universe’s ecosystem as it has such poor biodiversity (just over a thousand pokeymans? big yike)
I’ve been meaning to play both Zelda and Zelda II on Switch Online, maybe I’ll take a crack at them over Xmas break; they’re a couple of blind spots that I’ve had for no good reason and I need to fix that
Unfortunately, I don’t think there is an ad blocker for, say, Roku, where I do most of my YouTube viewing
Really wish there was a viable alternative, and not just because of the ads, yt is the last Google thing I still consciously use
Only if they’re not trained assassins, that was the issue, wasn’t it?
