  • Can you elaborate on why new Linux users shouldn’t use an Atomic system? I’ve been looking to try one so I have no experience as of yet. My Dad wants to try Linux with his upcoming new computer. I was thinking Fedora Kinoite as from what I understand, they just work and have a very low chance of breaking. He doesn’t do anything beyond the basic computing tasks like web browsing, writing documents and spreadsheets, and archiving photos. Do you think it wouldn’t be good for him?

  • I don’t yet know the scope of everything I might need, but right now I believe that a customer management system is the focus. A way to input their details and payment information to have an automatic recurring membership.

I don’t think I really need a way for them to view their account as it won’t have any fancy features. I just need to know that they are a member and have a membership renewal. They can sign up and cancel in person or over the phone (I’m not making it disgustingly hard for people to cancel like the large gyms).

On top of that I would imagine it would be nice for the software to keep track of my total number of patrons and thus a total income amount

  • Thanks for the info! This is really useful to know and definitely puts me off a little. I would hope installing another OS would preserve the device features. I started to look into “Manjaro Gaming Edition.” It all looks to be from a few years ago and based on XFCE. However on the device’s website it mentions a Plasma desktop so I wonder if they did a special version for this. One can hope it’ll be a better kept version of the OS from what you said.
