A couple months ago Glock redesigned their pistols to mechanically block the ability for people to stick a cheep part in it that makes it effectively shoot full auto. About 24 hours later someone worked out a way around it.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. This shit will be cracked by the end of the week it goes into effect.

For creating models: Blender is tops, openSCAD and Open CAD are good but a lot more technical.

For basic stuff, most slicers have objects and negative connects that you can sculpt I’ve something functional. I made a basic model last week for a thing I needed only in the slicer.

For slicer software: sometimes 3d printer brands customize a more common software to tune it to the specific machine. I’m a fan of Orca, but Cura and PrusaSlicer are also really good.

All of these are available as FOSS on Linux.

Immutable?

Idk, but my install offers a version rollback at the bootloader. Had a weird graphics issue after an update, so I just used an older version for a week or so till a new update fixed it.
