Big phones. Why wont they produce anything that fits in one hand anymore?
I know what you meant. I was exaggerating a bit but its still not healthy. For you and your relationship. Sure, you shouldnt constantly be complaining or getting upset at your partner because you yourself are upset, but if you dont show that youre sad its gonna weigh you down.
Going behind his back doesnt show a lot of trust either. You could tell him how you feel about it (dont demand that he stop, just tell him you feel sad when he follows pretty women or smth) and you can talk about it. If its not that important for him, he may stop. If it is though, you may try to give him that freedom or find a compromise. But not talking about it will just leave you feeling sad whenever you think about it.
Take it with a grain of salt though, Im not a psychologist.
Youre faking happiness and think thats something he should appreciate? Big oof

I couldnt care less. I never understood how people would be angry at others for forgetting their birthdays. Its just a damn anniversary…

I guess for 10-20 years. I have 2 pairs of jeans I wear regularly, but could shift to any other pants if necessary. I dont have a job where I need to dress up nicely, so I can basically wear whatever. T-shirts are my passion so I have at least 50 of them. Problem would probably be socks and underwear, maybe shoes.

Those are all valid points but I dont think thats what OPs question was about. They asked about effective ways to fight climate change. Not doing anything can never be an answer to that. Whether or not it makes sense to spend your hard earned money on other peoples behalf is a different question.
Also, no we are not doomed. Yes, climate change will have a huge impact on humankind, but earth wont randomly explode or something. Humankind will adjust to higher temperatures and more frequent natural disasters, but the extent to which this will affect everyone can still be minimized. The poor will be fucked the hardest, ‘accepting our fate’ and not doing anything will cost millions more lives than it could.

I actually made a separate comment with my suggestions^^. I think political change and research would have the most impact, so my proposal would be donating to organizations like FCA or CATF (which btw I already do with monthly payments to a climate fund because Ive been asking myself a similar question in the past)

As I havent seen a single actually effective answer:
Donate it to organisations fighting climate change. For example FCA (researching climate friendly ways of producing cement, steel, fuels), gfi (researching food alternatives), CATF (tries to influence political changes)

Really good idea. Rid the world of enviromnetally responsible people so climate change is accelerated. Thanks for the counter-argument.

This is bs, please dont spread misinformation like this. With your logic, we should all stop voting because a single vote doesnt have impact.
Every person is responsible for their own decisions and 10k from a single person have a huge relative impact. If every person with 10k available would use those for fighting climate change, we would have overcome it already.

Unfortunately investing money does veeeeeeeery little against climate change. Think like 0.1% of your invested sum. The money you invest still goes to shareholders, just those of companies that meet certain criteria.
Of course it is better (i.e. has bigger impact) than investing elsewhere, dont get me wrong. But investing doesnt promote actual changes. For someone to make changes in politics or public opinion, they need to be paid. Spending the money on such projects is the way to make actual change.

Yeah I think its just that minus the waking up again part. Probably just nothing. But yeah noone can know for certain.
I imagine being anesthesized could feel similar, as the consciousness fades away and thats what we use/need for experiencing life.
There are more or less accepted theories in psychology that fear of death is ultimately the basis for all our fears. Fear of being left alone is a result of evolution telling us we will die without a community. Fear of failure because we would get cast out, hence being alone and dying without the communuty etc. The hypothesis is that once you accept death as an inevitable part of life, the path leading there will be much more enjoyable.
What I find interesting is that you are saying you dont enjoy life but are afraid of dying. If life isnt enjoyable, would disappearing really make a difference? (genuine question)
We experience the world through lenses that our brain programmed through our experiences. I think the extent to which one enjoys life deoends heavily on how that persons brain ‘expects’ life to be enjoyed. If your opinion is that life is generally not that great, you wont experience the different joys it brings. In some cases, our brains can be ‘tricked’ very easily. For example, when you have a hiccup, tell yourself ‘hiccups arent real’ like you really believe it. The hiccup will go away within seconds. What Im trying say is if you tell yourself that you are enjoying some things and that life is great, eventually that will become your new reality. The trick behind motivational videos/speeches/coaches is that you receive the information from another person. If you believe that person is telling the truth in saying life is great, your brain may adopt to that. Telling it to yourself is way more efficient though because your brain is already you, but it obviously seems stupid talking yourself into things you dont believe.
Of course clinical depression is a different matter and needs professional care.
Maybe they meant ‘was depressed once’ ^^

Most of the richest 1% would come from few different countries, so there would probably be less cultural differences at least. I could imagine the world being divided into one country per continent or something. People living very far from each other would accelerate digitalisation of governance.
Cutting emissions by about 95% could also help with climate change. Also people could just move away from highly affected regions.
I think humanity might just be better off. That said, I dont think this is limited to the richest 1%, most distributions of 1% of the population would do.

If 80m people survived a few thousand years ago and kept growing, why would 80m people now, with access to thousands of times more knowledge and technology, die?

Like the other commenter said its meant to be interpreted in base10.
You could also just take 0.01001100011100001111… as an example
Ive been wondering about that myself.
I think it was the same with reddit. Maybe these types of “forums” are just popular among Germans. But I also feel like on average Germans have a higher tendency towards english content than the rest of Europe. Especially France and eastern Europe are notoriously monolingual. I guess there are probably a lot of dutch or belgian people here (relatively speaking), but those countries are smaller so there arent many in absolute numbers.
